My experience has been that most so-called ‘libertarians’, have three major planks, pro-abortion, pro gay marriage and pro drugs.
Until that changes, I don’t understand why ‘libertarians’ would vote Republican over Democrat. You have far more in common with Obama.
As for the stuff you mentioned - I agree - but they have to be willing to give up all three of these first.

It was founded in 1971, when Republican Big Government President Richard Nixon instituted wage and price controls. Just imagine Obama doing the same.
The libertarians I knew were most concerned about economic liberty as the foundation for protecting freedom.
And for the life of me, I can't understand self-identified "conservatives" defending drug prohibition. Drug Prohibition was just another progressive program to force people to behave morally. Why prop up liberalism? Insanity.
