There is a twist to this, that Democrats may actually cross the aisle to vote for Boehner, as they would prefer him to the other possible Republicans.
Democrats truly understand crossover votes, which they use in primary elections against conservatives, by voting for liberal Republicans and “faux” Republicans.
Paul Ryan.
No to Bonehead, Cantor or McCarthy!
Ryan is part of the problem, not part of the solution.
That’s how Texas got their worthless RINO speaker. The plus side to Boehner winning the speakership with democrat votes would be that he would be emasculated, made powerless. The conservatives would feel no need to pay any attention whatsoever to him.
Boehner should have the house pas a bill that both republicans and conservatives can be happy with.
Only the hose has the authority to originate this bill, and the House should not relinquish that constitutional authority.
Next, for speaker, conservatives should rally behind 1 candidate (I would prefer Lt Col West.), and inform the speaker that is where the vote is going. He can either get on board with the plan, or, risk losing all the chairmanships and to the Democrats.
Conservatives should hold firm - We can no longer stand for the the GOPe to be in a leadership position of anything. Boehner have proven to be the enemy of conservatives, and should be treated as such.
No surprise if Rats vote for Bonehead. Many of them voted for the Debt
increase 2 years ago. However, it says that both the Rats and GOP
recoginize Bonehead as the leader of the DC Party, not The GOP.
Of course, we already know that.
There is no plus side to Boehner winning the speakership with democrat votes.
That would give us effectively a democrat controlled speaker.
Gingrich!
I know the GOP-e will not allow this but there is no more qualified candidate.
Louie Gohmert of Tyler, TX would be a very good choice.
None of these candidates are well known which makes this harder. There can’t be three. There must be one. And then we encourage this candidate to run. If they won’t run all of this is futile. So a key factor in picking a challenger is who wants the job.
Tom Price.
“There is no plus side to Boehner winning the speakership with democrat votes.”
Oh, I agree. And frankly, we have a democrat-controlled speaker now.
My point was that if Boehner won with democrat votes, he would be done. The leadership in the house, in the real sense would pass to somebody else.
I second Gohmert
Yes, I would like to see Newt as speaker of the house.
Gohmert has cajones and I think he would be great.
“Tom Price, Jim Jordan, and Jeb Hensarling”
Any of these three gentlemen would be heads and shoulders above Boehner.
As a matter of fact, since Boehner is absolutely worthless how could it get any worse?
“Ryan is part of the problem, not part of the solution.”
I’m afraid you’re right. His “roadmap” was going to take—what—20 years to balance the budget? Jim Jordan and the Conservative Study Group at first opposed the Ryan plan for a much bolder budget that would balance in a much shorter period.
“Louie Gohmert of Tyler, TX would be a very good choice.”
Agreed, he would be an excellent choice.
