While there at it, might as well outlaw booze and cars as well. More people being killed in car accidents, plus those related to too much booze than are killed by guns.

California led the nation with the most in 2011 with 1,220 total - 866 by handguns and 45 homicides with rifles; 50 by shotgun ; 259 unknown.
The state of Hawaii with the least murders with only 1.

Data table 20 does not include the expanded data for example that includes justifiable homicides by LEOs and private citizens in the commission of crimes.
I thought background checks were already the law...am I wrong?
