If you get stuck on a machine with “Window” 8, it’s fairly simple to upgrade to Linux or Windows 7.

Once Window 8 is up, access the BIOS as follows:

Go to: Charms > Settings > Change PC Settings > General > Advanced Startup > Restart Now.
Then select: Troubleshoot > Advanced Options.
Scroll down, and select: UEFI Firmware Settings, and then select the “Restart.”

Once the system restarts, you will now have access to the BIOS. Depending on your machine, go to “Boot Mode”, which is probably set to “UEFI”, you need to change this to “Legacy BIOS”.

Make sure your Windows 7 or Linux CD is in the CD/DVD drive. (You may need to change the boot order to CD/DVD first.)

Now you’re ready to upgrade to either Windows 7 or Linux.

I still was unable to install Linux even with secure boot disabled..... And the laptop I bought had no option for legacy bios.
