Tyrants preserve themselves by sowing fear and mistrust among the citizens by means of spies, by distracting them with foreign wars, by eliminating men of spirit who might lead a revolution, by humbling the people, and making them incapable of decisive action ... Aristotle
Youd think ole Ari might have been peering through some sort of cosmic window into modern day America some 2300 years ago with comments such as those above.
Theres another way to look at it, as well. One can grudgingly admit that the Greeks, of 2300 years ago, were smarter than modern Americans. In my estimationyoud be right. So, I tend to go with the latter explanation.
See, America is building a head of steam preparing to go to war with itself a second time at this very moment. This is not unusualnot in America. We have already had two revolutions. You may recall the American Revolution against Great Britain and the secondthe War for Southern Independence, often erroneously referred to as the American Civil War, or the War Between the States.

Great article. Is the author related to Lieutenant General James Longstreet, C.S.A.?
There are a lot of those who side with the enemy, the vast majority of government employees, union members, the press, much of academia...
It will be messy.
But they are starting it.

People in the private sector work their asses off to pay your pension, and try to survive on what’s left over, and most of us can’t retire and live anywhere near the level of retired government employees. most of whom made more money, and got better benefits in their working years than did private sector employees.
If you live in the north, and you winter in florida, skip the postcard to your working friends who are stuck in the snowy north. At the very least, you may have to watch their cookouts over your fence, in lieu of being invited.
A retired public school teacher, who was a client of mine, used to call me when the weather was cold here in PA, just to tell me that he just got off the beach in Ft. Myers. If he wasn’t a client, the ice ball might have been tempting.
We have not yet begun to fight the civil war. It’s true that we have lost the culture war. It’s now hip to be dependent on the government, on drugs, or a violent predator. But those are just TV images to most people. Conservatives are armed for real.
What he said....
"The very first firefight between government agents and American private citizens will be the ignition point of an all consuming maelstrom that will inundate the nation and render null and void any chance that America might reconstitute itself into its former image afterwards."
Pray harder than you ever have before while loading those mags that these leftist Utopian MORONS will cease and desist and that those mags will NOT be needed.
I do and I have been for many years. The problem is ... they’re MORONS.

Fat, commie/fascist sturgeons of debt/revenues won't be fighting against impoverished members of the private sector tomorrow, though. They'll go after the loot, instead--after each other.
So sure, now that the political/regulator class (big, fat debt/revenues in, little droppings of debt/revenues out) is all stocked up on tacticool weapons and ammunition, maybe the same class will institute violations of our Second Amendment.
But I would advise against violating any of our constitutional freedoms, especially during economic hard times caused by over 30 years of government-linked global interests colluding with foreign communist nations and with their regulator friends in government of all levels. Hard working, technically inclined men know that there are more ways to skin a cat than the vain, socialist political/regulator class could imagine.
Hey Dave, point me to what it is that gunner did wrong so that I can join you in your vitriolic attack against this fellow FReeper.
I suspect that present day Americans have absolutely no clue how fragile major cities are.
Wow! A great read! Thanks for posting!
Ping to the Q&R list.
Follow the thread. He jumped me. I suppose I owe him a apology. There may be about a half dozen government employees, other than military personnel, whose salaries we would willingly pay if we weren’t paying them at gunpoint, as we do now.
Thanks for the ping! Excellent!
Boehner back...
I am clinging to my guns and Bibles and The Constitution as it was written!
“Im a retired Federal employee who worked his ass off to earn that pension. I worked, testing and developing weapons and explosives, and even counter measures to foreign weapons and explosives,”
Well stated. Some simpletons opine that only the private sector are makers, and that all government employees are takers, making nothing. In some big ways, that can often be true. And government does indeed create a lot of jobs which nobody would notice or miss if they vanished. On the other hand, i have a friend who is a successful real estate broker.
And in truth, he actually “makes” nothing, except for a service. A service is a product, until you remember that his industry has busily convinced the government to protect them with silly licensing legalities. You an expert in the local market, and a local attorney decide to partner up and be the best home sellers in the area, and the AG’s office will swoop in with raid jackets and search warrants. They will arrest you, and seize your assets.
Same with florists in Louisiana where you need to complete an apprenticeship to get licensed. (only licensed people can arrange flowers there)
Plumbers are another. It really, seriously, isn’t rocket science, but they use government to prevent competition.
Same with construction contractors. Want to start advertising that you will paint houses? Better not do it unless you spend a few years working for a paint contractor, take a class, pay a government fee and pass a licensing test.
I notice how some “private sector” afficianados who justifiably get angry over union and government employment excesses, never seem to bitch very much about how their industries happily use government connections to raise barriers -solely- designed to protect THEM from competition and the free market. Galts Gulch would be free of such obnoxious government licensing scams to protect pet industries, right? Anyone there could sell a house, cut hair, fix a leaky pipe, etc. They would only count on their skills! And maybe, some specialist would show up with skills like arriving fast, and performing emergency medicine for a heart attack or accident. They might decide that it was worth paying someone skilled to protect them, their loved ones, and their property as they slept. The lazy would not be wanted or valued. Each day they would need to remember that they worked for people who found them valuable enough to pay them, and act accordingly.
But here in the real world, we pay “private sector” types two or three times the price to have furniture moved, a house painted or sold, or flowers delivered to a funeral, because they could not survive a free market. Consumer protection? LOL Whats the risk? A petunia in with the daiseys? A drip of paint makes it to the carpet or they miss a spot? Furniture is scratched? Yeahhhh, that kind of thing -never- happens with pros, and when it does, they cheerfully make you whole again!/
Anyway, a lot of us out here are not happy supporting free market competition types, who can never seem to stray to far from the government nipple. The lines between makers and takers are not always decided simply by asking “private or government”.
