It comes down to a furball and I’ve got more ammo than my life expectancy in such a situation would allow me time to expend. ;-)
Me too; I'd hate to have to try to swim a river with all my hardware, much less the ammo.
But I have friends and neighbors, family and former military associates, some of whom might turn up in my area with or without their own equipment. And once equipped, even if not with their first choice of novelties for the task at hand, they can pull guard for me while I catch some sleep and rest for the tasks of the next day. Or night. Or both.
