I visited Davao City in December 2011, went to a place on top of a hill overlooking the city called Jack’s Ridge, had some pretty good restaurants there.
Also, visited the Japanese Tunnel, it is an underground bunker used bu the Japanese in World War II. It’s located just outside of the city.
There are a couple of good nature parks outside the city, one has the endangered Philippine eagles, and a butterfly sanctuary.
I can say Davao City is much nicer than Manila.

I can not imagine ever setting foot in or near Manila, especially the airport, which is rated the worst in the world.
One should always book flights to land at Cebu, via Korea or Hong Kong.
