That's a great tactic right from the start. Make sure they know that the democrats only care about them when they need them. If they're willing to look at history show them that every marxist/fascist/communist leader has eventually slaughtered many of their own supporters when they became a threat. Things like the night of the long knives in Germany to the massacre of the bearded ones in Cuba. Point out that Che Guevera fled Castro's Cuba and never returned or spoke to Castro again.
