ST. PETERSBURG, Russia, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Russian authorities said they have detained about 300 people suspected of fostering terrorism.
A special operation Friday by authorities in St. Petersburg rounded up the group, RIA Novosti said Saturday.
Among those captured were people from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Egypt and Afghanistan.
"Ten of the detained people had forged documents, 20 had no documents at all and six were previously subjected to deportation from Russia," a police statement said.

Muslims. We should do this too...except that Obama’s candidate for CIA director is a Muslim convert who goes out and gives talks on the “beauty” of Islam. So I don’t think there’s much hope for the US . Maybe the Russians will have better luck.
I would not want to be one of those 300. Russians are not very nice to terrorists. After a time in their clutches these fellows will be singing like songbirds. The Russians have been fighting Islamic fanatics for a thousand years and they know that being nice is seen as weakness. Russians are not good at weakness. They error on the side of brutality. They do not care if “World Opinion” condemns them—They do what they think is right and proper. Oddly enough, Islamic people respect Russians far more than Americans.
