Prepare for Gay Marriage
I hate writing about this subject, but with both French and British parliaments passing gay marriage laws in the past week, were reaching a no-turning-back point in our world. God is sovereign and specializes in last minute rescues, but barring a Mordecai-type intervention we might as well face up to the reality that gay marriage is coming down the pike at an unstoppable speed, and its going to impact many Christians in damaging and even destructive ways. While continuing to pray, preach, and campaign against this (read these nine words again), we must also ask how we can prepare for the collision in such a way that minimizes the carnage.
1. Prepare our children
Most of us try to protect our children from sexual information until they are mature enough to handle it, without delaying so much that they end up hearing it first from someone else. We also want to lay a solid foundation of teaching them about Gods beautiful design for sexual relationships before eventually explaining the various perversions of Gods order.
That privilege of waiting until our children are old enough and of presenting the beautiful before the ugly will be increasingly denied us by the normalization and display of homosexuality in the media, in schools, and in the malls. This is going to be tough, but we will have to teach our children much earlier and about much more than we would ordinarily choose.
2. Prepare to love
Though Christians are often accused of hating homosexuals, homosexuals harbor far more hate for Christians than vice versa. They really do hate us in a way Ive never seen in any other group way more than radical Muslims or even the secular humanist and communist groups of the 1970′s to 1990′s, and thats saying something. They are our self-declared enemies and want to see our beliefs, words, and actions criminalized. They want to shut down our businesses, render Christians unemployable, and incarcerate our preachers.
In response, we must love them.
Thats going to be one of the hardest things we will ever do, as most of us will never have encountered such personal enmity from anyone. But we must beg for the spirit of Christ, who prayed, Forgive them father, for they know not what they do. We must graciously and gently good-news them and good-deed them, while being unflinching in our moral convictions.
We dont need to prove our spiritual manhood by condemning homosexuality in every sermon and prayer. Keep the focus on the saving love of Christ, no matter how tempting it is to get into constant condemnation mode. Remember, there are probably homosexuals in most of our congregations. Try to win them, not beat them.
3. Prepare for jail
I doubt most politicians really want lots of otherwise law-abiding citizens jailed for refusing to bake a cake for a gay wedding, or for preaching that homosexuality is wrong. Many do, however, want to create a climate of intimidation that will deter Christians from doing such things. If the UK pattern is a model and it looks as if US campaigners are using the same playbook they will pass hate-crime legislation, press charges against us, shame us in the media, stigmatize our businesses and churches, threaten us with the loss of our children, and impose substantial fines, all in the hope to scare us into silence. But when none of these things move us, the legal penalties will intensify until eventually some of us, maybe many of us, will end up going to prison for it. Wed better get ready for that inevitable reality.
4. Prepare for betrayal
This is going to be a sifting time. Some Christians will cave. Prominent preachers will compromise. Famous Christians will distance themselves from believers who have fallen foul of homosexual campaigners. Whats the point in going to jail? We can still preach the Gospel without ever mentioning homosexuality. We must be wise .etc. There will be major Judas-type disappointments. The mighty will fall. But many humble unknown Christians will suffer honorably and beautifully and know the blessedness of being persecuted for righteousness sake.
5. Prepare a refuge?
This great nation was founded when a group of persecuted believers fled religious persecution to find and enjoy freedom of religion. Its beyond ironic that the very same pilgrims would be among the first targets of this new religious persecution if they were alive today. If the current trajectory continues, we will look at one another and ask, Where can we flee to? Perhaps a State will come forward that will stand up to this tyranny and offer refuge to thousands of moral and spiritual refugees, aliens in their own land. Maybe another Mayflower will be required, perhaps many of them, this time to sail away from these shores in hope of finding freedom to worship and serve God according to His Word. But where to? Where is left? Russia? Which brings us to
6. Prepare for eternity
The Bible makes clear, and history backs it up, that when a people goes down this route, its close to its end. It has run out of moral ground, its already over the cliff, and falling into the holy wrath of God. As country after country passes gay marriage laws, the end is coming closer and closer. If the USA falls, how far behind will Gods judgment be? The time is short and shortening. We need mercy, we need prayer, we need to plead with our family and friends to flee the coming wrath by fleeing to Christ the only savior of sinners yes even homosexual sinners that will come to Him for salvation.
In the meantime, lets not give up and give in but continue to do all that we can to save our society and precious souls.
"I KNOW BUT ONE CODE OF MORALITY FOR MEN WHETHER ACTING SINGLY OR COLLECTIVELY"
I believe that the two issues upon which the believing Church will never compromise are opposition to abortion and homosexual marriage. These are considered sacraments by the apostate mainliners.
I’m not quite sure why we have Vichy Conservatives like you posting here.
Your points are spot-on. This is a good piece.
It’s too bad even Free Republic has people that will hatefully attack fellow conservatives. Attacks like the one or two comments on this thread probably come from those who are not Christians and therefore do not understand—cannot SEE—what’s coming from this massive embrace of homosexuality by our nation-at-large.
Bump for later.
I’m saying, it’s not inevitable. Arguing that it is inevitable and we must ‘prepare’ to ‘deal with it’ is no different than what Vichy did.
The recent militant advance of homosexuality hasn't happened in isolation - it is the logical conclusion for a culture that has repeatedly, over many long decades, denied God's truth. We are all complicit in some sense.
Recipe for gay wedding cake:
* 6 cups cake flour sifted
* 2 tablespoons baking powder
* 1 1/2 cups butter or margarine, softened
* 3 cups granulated sugar
* 2 cups milk
* 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
* 12 egg whites
* one cup fresh chicken droppings
* one cup fresh pig manure
* one cup fresh horse manure
* Cake Release
12 cups of cake batter.
Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease bottom of pans and line with waxed paper or parchment paper, or use Cake Release.
Sift together flour and baking powder. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Set aside. Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry. Set aside. With mixer at slow speed, add flour mixture to butter mixture, alternately with milk. Beat well after each addition. Beat in vanilla extract. Gently fold egg whites into batter. Pour into prepared pans. Bake until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
Cut one cake in half and spread 1 cup chicken droppings in middle before topping with other half.
Top first cake with one cup well-blended pig manure.
Cut second cake in half and spread with fresh horse manure.
Chill to thicken and spread with classic butter cream frosting for that traditional wedding cake look.
Congratulations - your wedding cake LOOKS just like the real thing!
Death is inevitable FRiend. Prepare, and prepare your children. All is inevitable. God looks to each of us, stares deeply into each of us and down on us is the inevitability of which when the time comes it will probably make no difference that which any of us did, or perhaps through our works God defines us and no government can define the children of God. Some will try though. May I be one, for I am one, each of us is one. God is the many. Who will hold the faith and know God’s Will shall be done? Not my will be done, but God’s Will Be Done. God has a means and method for sneaking up on each of us. May God capture all of us ... when that moment comes. Fear not though FRiend, I am a human so I shall fail.
OMG! Minnie in “The Help” couldn’t have come up with a more diabolical recipe!
It’s coming. We’re already at the point where a public figure cannot be against homosexual “marriage” without being trashed and ostracized.
I remember a time not too long ago when many Freepers thought there would never be a state where 51% of the voting public would accept ‘gay marriage’ as possible.
When one’s definition of marriage is determined by whatever judges, pols, or the voting public think it is at any one time, it shouldn’t have been very shocking. To the state that’s all marriage will ever be. There are many faiths that will never have an absurd difficulty in defining marriage, as opposed to how the state defines the institution.
Thanks for the article. Sometimes I think that we just need to change the language.
Homosexuals, and their sympathizers, destroyed the word “gay”. Lots of people of my generation are named Gay, and it was a perfectly decent word. Now the homosexuals have undermined its meaning starting in the ‘70s and have turned it into a negative word. There is NOTHING gay about the state of homosexuality. To call homosexualilty “gay” is like calling evil “good”, sadness “joy”, uneducated “learned”, etc.
So, now they want the word “marriage” applied to their “unions”. Well, we could just outsmart them and change the name of heterosexual marriage. I don’t have a candidate for a name yet, but I’m thinking about it. Of course we’d have to alter a plethora of laws and regulations to show the differentiation.
I know this sounds like abandoning the battlefield. But, that is exactly how George Washington won the Revolution — disappearing from the battlefield and hitting the enemy elsewhere!
You mischaracterize. Vichy conservatives are IN FAVOR of the counterfeiting of marriage (Laura Bush, Dick Cheney, Colon Powell, et al.)
Vichy collaborated with the Nazis. The original poster is not saying we should collaborate, but rather, that "gay marriage" as law of the land is inevitable; just as the Nazi blitzkrieg was inevitable. To take the analogy further: if you are suggesting that "gay marriage" will not be the law of the land, you display a mentality like Hitler in his bunker in the waning days of WWII, in which he ordered his followers to believe that the war was not lost as bombs rained down from above.
If some Pink Nazi lawyer attempted to compel me to obey their orders, I would be happy to bake them a special recipe Gay Wedding Cake. The down side is that the perverts would probably enjoy it.
I love the lessons taught us by George Washington. First in War, First in Peace, First in the Hearts of his Countrymen (and women)!
Seems to me a faith can call it whatever they want, and some already do. Holy matrimony, the sacrament of marriage, blessed marriage and so on. Those faiths that already accept ‘gay marriage’ probably call it these things as well though.
“Of course wed have to alter a plethora of laws and regulations to show the differentiation.”
If we are at the point of the state inevetably accepting ‘gay marriage’ in how it recognizes the institution, I’m not sure how relying on the state to protect and differentiate this new term is very plausible, in my opinion. If judges, pols, or the voting public decide that your new official state recognized term that only applies to actual marriage will also be used for gay couples, then that is how the state will recognize it.
It seems to me that we already have DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) on the books. That is Federal Law and remains law, even if Obama does not choose to enforce it. I don’t remember that it has been repealed.
There are quote worthy posts popping up everywhere. LOL folks, I need (that French word) permission. Jim all these posts belong to you. I’ll utilize what am able with your permission only your permission not to plagiarize any posters. Going out front so as not to steal. Will back away without permission JimRob.
Not being an attorney, perhaps this is telling me to back away. Any legal experts on this thread? Without your permission JimRob, am backing away.
Im not quite sure why we have comments like your being post here. What it is about this post (or poster) that is not truly conservative?
Or is this a RC i"f you are not with us then you are not truly conservative" charge? In which see to your own house.
In other words the meteor that exploded over Russia is a very small taste of what is to come.
Freedom not Sodom!
There’s freedom in America, the land of the red white and blue;
but there still must be laws, things you just can’t do.
You can’t marry your sister, your brother, or the family pet;
a sheep, or a goat - at least not yet!
That how is it with homosexuality, what the Bible calls sodomy;
men lying with men as with women, is perversity!
That they’re not designed that way, tis easy to perceive,
but yielding to sinful desires, man is soon deceived.
A moral wrong is not a civil right; like the sin itself, that’s confusion;
calling evil good and exchanging light for darkness, is sure delusion!
History tells us where this will lead, from societies now in dust,
When a nation casts off the laws of God, and follows it’s own lusts.
Promoting a sin which sends one to Hell from an early grave,
dishonors God and robs man of the Life He gave.
There’s but one answer: the Risen Jesus gave Himself for our sins;
Repent and believe, then truly follow Him!
Will Obama Join Legal Fight for Gay Marriage?
There is one mystery left to solve before the Supreme Court gathers to hear a challenge to Proposition 8 in late March.
That is: Will the Department of Justice weigh in on the case in favor of opponents of Prop 8, the California ballot measure that defined marriage as between one man and one woman? And what will it say?
Hollingsworth v. Perry concerns the California ballot initiative, enacted in 2008. In a brief filed with the court on Thursday, opponents of Prop 8 made broad arguments claiming that it is unconstitutional.
“Proposition 8 is an arbitrary, irrational and discriminatory measure that denies gay men and lesbians their fundamental right to marry in violation of the due process and equal protection clauses,” the opponents said.
The brief was written by Theodore B. Olson and David Boies, who represent the American Foundation for Equal Rights.
They wrote, “Because of their sexual orientation — a characteristic with which they were born and which they cannot change — plaintiffs and hundreds of thousands of gay men and lesbians in California and across the country are being excluded from one of life’s most precious relationships.
“They may not marry the person they love, the person with whom they wish to partner in building a family and with whom they wish to share their future and their most intimate and private dreams,” they added.
The arguments tackled more than just the ruling that struck down Prop 8 on narrow grounds specific to California’s history on the issue of gay marriage.
The language was sweeping: “The only substantive question in this case is whether the state is entitled to exclude gay men and lesbians from the institution of marriage and deprive their relationships — their love — of the respect, and dignity and social acceptance, that heterosexual marriages enjoy.
“This badge of inferiority, separateness and inequality must be extinguished. When it is, America will be closer to fulfilling the aspirations of its citizens,” they wrote.
A month ago, supporters of Prop 8 filed their brief in the case. Read it HERE.
While the administration will certainly weigh in on the other gay marriage case in front of the court — a challenge to the federal law, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) — it has never filed a brief in the Prop 8 case because it was not directly involved.
While the DOMA case challenges a federal law that denies federal benefits to same-sex couples who are legally married in their state, the Prop 8 case asks a much broader question: Is there a fundamental right to gay marriage under the Constitution.
Solicitor General Donald B. Verrilli Jr. is not required to file a so-called “friend of the court” brief in the Prop 8 case, but sources said the administration is considering the possibility at the highest levels. If it chooses to weigh in, it has to do so by the last week of February.
In San Francisco Wednesday, President Obama told ABC News station KGO-TV, “The solicitor general is still looking at this. I have to make sure I’m not interjecting myself too much into this process, particularly when we’re not party to the case. I can tell you, though, that obviously my personal view is that I think that same-sex couples should have the same rights and be treated like everybody else.”
Why he says i am a Vichy Conservative is yet to be seen. Anyone agree?
The less people rely on the state to define the institution for them better off they will be. I think a big reason so many accept impossibilities like ‘gay marriage’ is because many have been conditioned to think the state defines marriage. It comes in little pieces of paper with strictures and benefits, and can be broken and resumed between any parties if the state gives its permission.
Often you will read about some faith that believes gay marriage is possible but wont recognize their own members gay marriages until the state they are in also agrees. Which might be more insane than actually buying into gay marriage in the first place.
In any case, the church did not begin with a silver spoon in its mouth, or under honorable leaders. See TIBERUS AND THE MOSTLY BAD EMPERORS THAT FOLLOWED AUGUSTUS
The question here is not a matter of freedom. As far as I’m concerned, homosexuals are free to commit sodomy with each other, just not in public.
On the other hand, the rest of us are free to disapprove, and indicate that disapproval in any way we see fit. Refusal of service, of any kind, include faux weddings, faux wedding receptions, service in a restaurant, renting of facilities or lodging, employment, etc.
And I’d advise they truly repent - ask God for forgiveness, desist in the behavior, and try to make it up to anybody injured.
Actually that was Joshua before entering the Promise Land Josh 24:15 FYI.
If the premise is that ‘gay marriage’ is inevitable, I assume DOMA goes away, and this new format with a different term for marriage comes into being. I don’t think it would be too likely at that point, but lets say it does happen. I don’t think it will last very long, as in today’s society it would be looked at as a work-around to deprive folks of their ‘equal civil rights.’ Not true, but that’s how it would be looked at.
If it kept the state from punishing people for not buying into ‘gay marriage’ somehow, then it would be worth doing. But why wouldn’t the same thing be done eventually with this term that is done with marriage now? The whole point of the ‘gay marriage’ fight is to punish folks who won’t buy into it with the power of the state. If the state decides your term should also apply to gay couples, then that is how the state will recognize it.
There is always a FReeper with the truth. All one must do is read and reply respectfully. Thank You. We may sometimes argue amongst ourselves but them outside people best leave us alone or or or .... wait a minute ... or FReepers will come up with a plan. A plan has been proposed freely. This is actually what the web was intend for. Better communications. FReepers may eventually fail, but those who view us and those who read us will know we gave it our best shot for to be and forever be a Free Republic.
That is apt analogy, and the recipe behind the recipe is even more insidious.
In a large lying bowl, mix
2 cups appeal to equal rights (civil rights for immoral behavior)
11/2 cups powdered appeal to “love (sanctions all)
2 cups liquid venom (against those who disagree)
1/2 cup liquid liberal “scholars”
4 large media corporations
21/2 teaspoons leaving agent (hypocrisy)
Mix together (mixture will be very runny) thoroughly, breaking up any resistant lumps with crooked spoon.
Let rise during night (while good men sleep).
Pour into government issued round pan, greased with slippery slope reasoning (it doesn’t directly affect straights)
Heat oven with lukewarm politicians and bake slowly till pink.
Consume with lust. Note that past products have been burned up by fire from Heaven.
Maybe this analogy can be improved.
I’m not sure what the reference means, except maybe to France during World War II. The Vichy regime collaborated with the Nazis. I assumed he meant he was trying to imply that you were a “Nazi collaborator,” which is utterly stupid.
* 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
* 12 egg whites
* one cup fresh chicken droppings
* one cup fresh pig manure
* one cup fresh horse manure
* Cake Release
With the tyrannical nanny state that we must live, I am afraid that the jack booted thug law enforcement officials and over reaching courts would send a baker who made such a cake using chicken, pig and horse manure for a gay wedding cake to prison for perhaps 20 years to life.
Oops. Forgot to copy you on message #40, since I mentioned your comments.
Im still trying to figure out what a Vichy Conservative is. The poster obviously didnt like something about the post but surely didnt state clearly what it was. Bringing something from previous threads perhaps?
I give. What is a Vichy Conservative?
Hiding from what the left is embedding into the American culture is probably pretty Vichy unto itself.
I’m reminded of Lot who accepted the conditions of Sodom around him in exchange for living “peaceably” with the homosexual inhabitants. He even offered up his own daughters to appease them. And when the Lord told him to get out, Lot dug in his heels so that the Lord had to literally drag him out of Sodom while his wife was willing to look back much to her destruction. And then all he could do was moan for what he had lost.
This should be a warning for all Christians that it is far better to live in the wilderness like Abraham than to compromise with homosexuals. There is much to be said for loving and wanting people to come to Christ. But we shouldn’t fool ourselves either.
Homosexuality is the dead canary in the coal mine of civilization. The fact that this is rampant throughout the earth should tell us something.
We would be sorely remiss if we did not help one another to come out of sinful lifestyles and that cannot happen if we pretend homosexual acts are "just another lifestyle choice" equal in value to heterosexual marriage. It would be one thing if the idea of homosexual acts being sinful was a "human" invention, or societal "norm" akin to Victorian prudishness in dress codes. But, the fact that God has ALWAYS condemned such actions from the start and enacted severe punishments for those who indulged in them, shows us that it is something that HE judges and denounces. It's not up to us to tell God how to manage His creation or deem right from wrong.
That really IS the issue here. A Godless people thinks it can decide for itself what is right or wrong, good or bad. As the article states, a society or nation that goes down that path without stopping and repenting is surely headed for destruction. It's happened before, it can/will happen again. May Christ find us faithful to Him.
He learned a new word and doesn't know how to use it properly. He just likes to mouth off wherever 'it' goes; I learned that last year when 'it' signed up. Expose and then ignore the idiots is the way to go.
Daniel, as usual, excellent post. Thanks.
