Mika Giggles Like Schoolgirl Over Sex In Woody Guthrie Book—Ignores His Communist Ties
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Woody Guthrie was an American original who wrote some enduring music and did a lot to publicize the plight of the people of the Dust Bowl. There was just one little inconvenient truth about Guthrie: he ran in Communist circles. Though it's reported that he never officially joined the party, he's quoted as saying that the "the best thing that I did in 1936 was to sign up with the Communist Party." He also wrote 174 columns for the Communist Party's Daily Worker newspaper.

But nary a mention was made of Woody's Communist connections on Morning Joe today. Instead, Mika Brzezinski giggled like a schoolgirl over the numerous, explicit sex scenes contained in a recently-discovered novel that Guthrie wrote, House of Earth.

Too much information.

(Now the ignoring Communist ties part is so predictable, so expected, I need to come up with another description besides TMI, but since I just now woke up this morning, my brain isn’t quite in gear...)

A nitwit Leftist? Ignoring Communist ties??

Please tell me this isn’t true!

The only reason ANYBODY is talking about this book is that Johnny Depp’s name is on the cover.

Well, as Eleanor Roosevelt said, Communists are just liberals in a hurry.

It’s pretty much a standard now that every morning newshow have at least one vapid air-headed infobabe whose only job is to look cute and say stupid stuff.

According to Pete Seeger, Guthrie never joined the Communist Party because they insisted he give up his belief in God, and he wouldn’t do that. That’s Seeger’s story. However Guthrie had no problem writing for the Daily Worker and praising Stalin. After reading enough literature about folk singers from that time, it appears many or most of them were communists. Doesn’t differ much from today.

Apparently PMSNBC considers the fact that Woody Guthrie was a Communist to be breaking news?

"However Guthrie had no problem writing for the Daily Worker and praising Stalin"

I like Woody Guthrie's music (as well as son Arlo) and there's no doubt that if he wasn't a commie, he was darn close to one. However, in defense of him, he wrote those words praising Stalin in the 1930's before the world really knew what a despicable human being he was. Most of his atrocities were kept under wraps at that time. You could find a lot of people from the 30's writing nice things about Hitler also. Things they took back later on in light of what came out.

Sorry Teufel but it was known back then too, except the world didn't care. You know the Term "Can't break an omelet without breaking some eggs"

That was coined by the Bastard Walter Duranty who said that about the Ukrainian Holodmor.

And Won a Pulitzer prize for it.

I am sure Old Woody knew about it then.

That is what all Communists want, you must restructure society, therefore you must commence with the "War of Classes" in which certain groups of People must be Killed.

Communism is in unto itself a Murderous Doctrine.

That is why I want all Communists to die in fear and pain.

They know what it is they want, they are just to much of chicken to come out and say it.
