There are high schools with larger budgets.

I was a draft board member during the Gulf War and we were getting ready to draft doctors and nurses but the tide turned our way.

At a time when the volunteer military is strained to the breaking point.

It seems that America has decided that it will never again fight if an enemy is large enough, or powerful enough, we are in the process of surrendering to a future China or even of being incapable of fighting a couple of much smaller nations, if it means a dual front.

I remember registering right after I turned 18. Six weeks later I was in the military...my parents forwarded my mail, and one of the first things I got was a nastygram saying I hadn’t registered.

I was busy with...um..my first few weeks in the military. So, I threw it away.

One day its going to bite me...I won’t be eligible for something because I’m allegedly a draft dodger.

The problem is actually less Selective Service than providing the government with another data source for their ever growing databases of citizen information.

Once you achieve a critical threshold of information about people from numerous sources, true and false, you begin to be able to “data mine” with advanced software, to discover information not in your records.

The government is not particularly ethical in how it obtains data, either.

In 1983, the Selective Service purchased Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor chain’s “Birthday Club” data and mailed warnings to young men to register for the draft before their 18th birthday. Farrell’s blamed the situation on an unauthorized sale by a list broker, and the government announced they would stop using the list.

Trust us.

Right now, every scrap of data the government can get is fed into enormous and powerful data mining computer centers, where most of it will sit, inert. But if you ever attract the attention of government, say by refusing to turn in your guns on demand, they will know far more about you than you suspect.

Women must be forced to register for the draft! If you can vote, then you can also have the privilege of getting shot in the head. And, in the spirit of Affirmative Action, women should immediately be drafted until they form 60% of the Infantry. There will be no deferments for pregnancy, children or education! If Uncle Sam wanted you to have a child, he would have issued you one. And education? All they’ll need to know is the max effective range of weapons. Ladies, if you want to keep voting for our glorious leader, then live with the consequences of his policies.

“Britney, your hair looks fabulous!”

POW!

“Ohhhhh....I don’t think any hairdresser can cover half your head missing.”
