I’m a Kentucky voter and I would say Kentucky isn’t as Republican as some folks might think. This state elected and re-elected a Democrat govenor and a Democrat attorney general. In spite of turning out by a 63% margin for Romney, Obamacare will now get rolled out anyway to KY thanks to Kentuckian’s foolish vote for govenor and particularly attorney general. Statistically, many who voted for Romney also had to have voted for Bashear(gov) and Conway(AG).
Do you think McConnell can be defeated in a primary? Do you think some other republican could win the general election?
Pretty much like West Virginia. Both states will vote GOP for President, but the Dems hold sway in most state and local elections. In my opinion, McConnell faces an uphill battle be it the primary or general election because Tea Party types will no longer support him. Standing on purity of principle is the right thing for conservatives to do, but too often is the wrong thing to do politically in trying to win elections. Kentucky may be a pick up in the Senate for the Rats come 2014.
