When the central government in the United States rams through a 2700 page bill that was not read by any person who voted for it and whose impossible promises of more-for-less are now being revealed as a fraud; when the government, without apparent concern, rapidly inflates the national debt to 16 trillion that it will admit to (actually its 83 trillion); when the federal government sues the state of Arizona to stop it from guarding the borders and enforcing federal laws concerning illegal aliens; and when the government announces that it wishes to ban all weapons that would allow citizens to resist government overreaching, how far distant is revolution?
This question must have run through the minds of anyone who has read the newspapers for the last four or five years. In todays Wall Street Journal in the Notable & Quotable column, historian Paul Rahe, citing Tocqueville, writes:
One key indicator [of readiness for revolution] is that those with access to the levers of power within the ruling order cease to believe in the religion or ideology that legitimizes the regime. . . . First goes the belief in the legitimacy of the system. Then comes a triggeran event which causes large numbers of people to say to themselves, I cannot take this anymore. Then, the crucial question is whether those in charge have the nerve to try to crush the rebellion and whether their underlings will follow orders. If the powers that be are hesitant, ambivalent, or divided, if their underlings are fed up, things can very easily come apart (as they did in eastern Europe, in the Soviet union, and in Tunisia, Egypt, libya, and Syria).

Well...”The Bachelor” was on that night! ;)
My favorite question to owebamatards:
If pResident owebama was purposely trying to destroy the United States what would he do differently?
But the GOP is actively trying to "partner" with Obama, because "we're all in this together" and that maintains a kind of faith in the system which is quite unwarranted.
As I’ve always said, for a revolution to take place, the conditions have to be pretty dire (children being ripped from parents, etc.) People in general just want to get on with their lives and as long as they can have at least the illusion of doing so, they’re fine with that. Socialists asked the same question after WW1 and wonder why Russia went for a revolution instead of the industrialized West.
It’s because Obama is half-black. If you’re against his destructive ideas and actions, you’re a racist.
Everybody knows this!
there’ll be no revolution because most people are fat, lazy and happy with Redbox
Obamacare has not gone full monte, when people learn of all the hidden taxes, I predict they will be plenty uncomfortable and very unhappy.
The low information voter has no idea that everytime helicopter Ben starts up the presses, and gives the money to Goldman Sachs, and wall street, that it really is a tax because their spending power just shrank a little more. They just look around and wonder why life seems to be getting harder, or worse, go get in line for Federal Goodies, and Think they are recieving Freebies.
They feel they still have something to lose. Once they lose whatever that is, which will be soon, they will revolt.
I think the straight talk has to come from unelected people. We are at a disadvantage as far as having a platform to be heard from others than ourselves.
Because people are prepping and arming up...they ain’t done...yet.
Questions are the greatest tool of argument, and that is an excellent question.

As long as people’s mentality is still in high school, they’ll tolerate most anything.
Secession? Perhaps down the road.
State Nullification of Fed mandates? I see that coming. Soon.
One key indicator [of readiness for revolution] is that those with access to the levers of power within the ruling order cease to believe in the religion or ideology that legitimizes the regime.
Most seem to believe we still are immersed in the ideology of Liberty that was a founding principle of this county. They think having the ability to choose "American Idol" or some other insipid TV show is Liberty.
The period of open combat has not yet arrived.
When your doctor quits his practice, your supermarket shelves are empty, and your children are taught to despise you, it’s time. So far, we are seeing only the last item taking place.
What Good Can a Handgun Do Against An Army?
Call him out.
Consistently, over and over again.
Take the heat of being called a racist.
And call him out some more.
This is war.
Make the MSM spin their wheels with their constant attacks of racism. It will grow old.
And call him out again.
Cut to the chase and tell the public they are being lied too.
Let the MSM spin. Nobody believes them anyway.
This is war.
I don’t think the average citizen is smart enough to identify the source of the infringement upon their property and rights.
They have drank the Kool Aid for so long that they have built up a tolerance to accepting falsehood and are just weak enough to acquiesce to any further assault upon their position.
Most liberals, even when shown point blank, the consequences of their decisions, blame it upon “Republicans”.
Do you think the DHS buying all the ammo is an attempt to make it rare for public consumption?
Revolution can’t come soon enough for this country, it’s going to take it for restoration of government by the Constitution.
Nature of warfare has changed.
Nature of legitimate grouping has changed.
We aren’t fighting nations, economic establishments, political parties, military forces, intellectual frameworks, religious doctrines,....It’s almost as if there are stronger spiritual forces at play here.
Yet the liberals children will be handed 16 Trillion in taxes they owe, right along with everybody else’s children.
I blame the MSM
Of course, but there are hundreds of billions of rounds already in civilian hands.
“As Ive always said, for a revolution to take place, the conditions have to be pretty dire (children being ripped from parents, etc.) People in general just want to get on with their lives and as long as they can have at least the illusion of doing so, theyre fine with that.”
I pretty much agree with your assessment. Also the American people are slow to anger and tend to be pretty forgiving.
I’m pretty convinced the Rev is coming but there will have to be a tipping point like the economic collapse and Obama using it as a way to declare martial law and suspend elections or coming after the guns.
But its coming because you cannot have a country with the deep division we currently have between the percentage of the population that wants Socialism/Marxism and the percentage that want to restore the constitutional republic. Somebody has to win and somebody has to lose. It cannot go on indefinitely without resolution. IMO we are past the ballot box on the restoration of the republic.
Dr. Carson is the only one to call him out so far, none of the political class, not even Sen. Cruz, has called him out; but, you’re right, he should be called out daily by the opposition and isn’t, makes me wonder if there is any opposition.
It was a foregone conclusion once the government schools were taken over by the radical leftists.
The leftist run schools have now churned out 2 to 3 generations of voting age people, most of whom have been brainwashed with socialist, politically correct dogma from their first days in kindergarten (or Head-Start).
Take a look at photos of TEA party gatherings.
The older generation outnumber young people by a large factor. Most young people today know almost nothing about American history, have been taught not to be judgmental, and have heads full of mushy leftist socialist, Feel-good propaganda.
Look at photos of rebellions around the world. It is not the grandmas and grandpas leading the way and manning most of the barricades.
Older generations are fed up and ready to do the job but history shows it is the young of nation who do the hard work of bringing about violent change.
The old generation of republicans are a big part of the problem - they go along with everything. When is the last time they did a massive walkout or a mass filibuster? Answer: Never in our memory.
They spend most of their time trying to take out the young guns in their own party instead of fighting the leftists.
Listen to what leftists really say - they know that once the older generations pass away they will have almost no opposition.
Make that anti-depressants.
We ain’t had a revolution yet, ‘cause we ain’t had the spark to start the fire burnin’ in the belly of every red-blooded American.
I haven’t told my sister, who smokes like a chimney, how much more her premiums will go up under Obamacare. She would just say “Oh, pleeese.”
She thinks Obama has done a lot for this country.
She’ll find out in due time.
It’s mostly because Americans as a whole care more about their STUFF than their country and their children’s future. We’re watching America being intentionally driven into the dirt but at least we still have our STUFF!
Insurance companies are currently factoring in a 50% increase for 2014 smokers as a “starting point”.
Do you remember ballon mortgages, and how that worked out? Health Insurance Companies are about to introduce “ballon premiums”.
I thought I read somewhere that they will tack on $5,000 to the cost of your premium.
In terms of “real dollars”, and based on an IRS finding that premiums for a “bronze plan” would cost a family of four about $20,000 a year, we’re close to $5K per individual.
Don’t forget, the liberal parents will still be on the medical bill hook until their children hit 26,...even if they are in the military, have jobs, or are married....
No revolution because the healthcare bill doesn’t affect people right away. It affects companies. And corps don’t lead revolutions. No revolution until the average guy on the street is fed up.
We are the leading edge. We are more aware.
Wait until EBT cards don’t work. That is when things go bad.
Your right, and as for the Federal subsidy for the increased premiums...those parents can not make more than 144% of the Fed Poverty Level to qualify, so the cost will be an out of pocket expense for most working people.
I scanned your answer and thought I saw Red Sox, not Redbox.
Red Sox fans go 100 years between Championships—so if you base it on that, we are good through 2100.
I’d go to war tomorrow if i thought anyone else would come with me.
As it is, that isn’t how these things work. Anyone jumping the gun will have poo flung at them from all the other monkeys.
It’s just how we work.
By the time everyone is ready, it’ll be far too late.
I think the answer is more prosaic than this article states.
We had a revolution once. The southern states decided to take state soveriegnty to its ultimate level and broke off to form their own nation. The consequence was the most bloody war in American history. It took the South a century to recover.
There’s a dim memory of that conflict in the American understanding of revolution. A similar war with modern weapons would be horrific, and both sides know it - even the leftists, who crave violence and whose supporters have talked glibly about killing 25 million Americans in order to cement their rule.
So we dance around the issues, moving up to actual conflict with actually crossing the line.
The best scenario I can see is that the left tries some kind of burning of the Reichstag moment - which, if history serves correctly, will be an actual event like 9/11 conflated by the left for their own purposes, not a set-up like in Germany or a coup like in Russia. They’ll go overboard, and the entire country will go Galt on them, including many in the Washington infrastructure, leaving Obama and the high-level bureaucrats screaming orders that are ignored. Eventually someone steps in - the military, the states collectively, an administration official willing to take the chance - and announces that the republic has just missed the bullet, and we need to arrest the guilty and gather together to rebuild. That’s the best scenario.
On the other end of the spectrum, one or both sides will have nuclear weapons and no restrictions on their use; Sherman’s March to the Sea, with an army of drones and chemical weapons, carving a path from New York to LA. It would take more than a century to recover from that; it would be our own version of the Pelopenesian Wars.
God help us.
How does a Cubs’ fan figure into that?
THere has never been a revolution and there will never be one because American’s do NOT care. Add in the changing demographics and the rush Left and we are just never going to have one. Glad I’m old.
Does anyone truly believe that the current administration in Washington -- not just Obamateur but Pelosi, Reid, et. al., including a number of hack RINOs -- is legitimate? Does anyone believe that legion of inepticons is worthy of our respect and obedience? Do their values match our own, and in the rare case where they do, do they have the courage to defy fashion and stand for those values?
At some point, Cubs fans will just take themselves out.
