What they aren’t telling you is that after the first 3 years when the expanded group is paid for with 100% federal funds, the states have to put in an increasingly higher proportion of state money.
In some states, the incremental increase in Medicaid expansion costs each year is higher than the incremental increase in estimated new revenues for the whole state.
It will drain all new money that will be needed to go to education, mental health, health, corrections, etc. It’s like buying a mansion that has a balloon note due in the future you have no way of paying.
It is the road to financial ruin for states (who can’t just print more money like Obama does).
