I know the pride you are feeling. I felt the same exact feeling when my son became a Marine. He was 18 and so young looking back. The day of his graduation was one of the happiest days of my life. Did he graduate from Pendelton or Parris Island?

He will graduate from Parris Island on Friday. I can hardly wait! But he’s already a Marine, as of yesterday (Saturday) morning, when he finished the Crucible.

He had to overcome a lot of personal disasters, heartbreaks, humiliations, and naysayers to do this. It took real guts to force himself through it when people around him were trying to break him down. Funny to say that you admire your own kid, but I do—even if I were a man and in good health, I couldn’t do what he has done.

Now if he can just avoid getting killed, that would be swell.
