What happens when the temperatures warm and the snow melts? Craziness from a winter of people with a bad case of cabin fever or what. Maybe tax day has taxed people past their tipping point of watching their hard earned money stolen by the federal government only to watch it be pissed away and wasted like millions of dollars to China for birth control.

Within short order of recent American History, the anniversaries of horribly pointless tragedies, beginning with the Virginia Tech shootings on April 16, 2007; the Oklahoma City Bombing on April 19, 1995, which unimaginable event was premeditated by the bloody end of the Branch Davidian siege in Waco, Texas on April, 19, 1993; and ending with the Columbine High School shootings on April 20, 1999, are the all-consuming, blazing memories of those living and left behind, who cannot forget. Will they, the ones left behind, find closure or peace of mind some day? It would seem doubtful.
Early American History entails the tense events of the night of April 18, 1775, when Paul Revere and William Dawes are sent from Boston to warn colonists that British soldiers were coming to destroy their weapons depot. Revere reaches Lexington, Massachusetts around midnight and warns Sam Adams and John Hancock. Thus, the beginning of the American Revolution ensued.
April 12, 1861 was the beginning of the American Civil War, which ended, when Confederate resistance collapsed after General Robert E. Lee surrendered to Lt. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant at the Battle of Appomattox Court House in Virginia on April 9, 1865. Five days later, President Abraham Lincoln was the first president of the United States to be assassinated on Good Friday, April 14, 1865.

The Rwandan Genocide (April 6, 1994) and the Armenian Genocide (April 24, 1915) commemorate the horror and indescribable suffering of ethnic cleansing. Following these blows to humankind by humankind are the Qana Massacre in Southern Lebanon (04/18/1996) and the Port Arthur massacre in Tasmania, Australia (04/28/1996).
The momentous natural disaster of the San Francisco earthquake in 1906 took place on April 18, and the tragic sinking of the RMS Titanic occurred in the early morning hours of April 15, 1912. The Chernobyl disaster on April 26, 1986 was a nuclear accident that is considered to be the worst nuclear power plant accident in history and the only level 7 event on the International Nuclear Event Scale. It resulted in a severe release of radioactivity due to a power excursion that destroyed one of the site’s reactors. Most fatalities from the accident were caused by radiation poisoning. An accident it may have been, but it was still manmade.

The key to Germany’s ruin was the birth of Adolph Hitler on April 20, 1889, which Neo-Nazis will be celebrating this coming Tuesday, and the rest of the world will ignore or try to forget. His birth staged the culmination of disaster and disgrace that was the Third Reich. A termination that inevitably marked Germany as the devil incarnate of humanity to this day. Though, apparently it is not the only country with an evil past.
On April 13, 1953, the Central Intelligence Agency director Allen Dulles authorized the MK-ULTRA project. Launching one of its most dubious covert programs ever and turning unsuspecting humans into guinea pigs for its research into mind-altering drugs. Due to its possibly delicate disposition, no information is available on the CIA website in regards to this project.
Two events of the 20th century that greatly impacted the United States were the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. on April 4, 1968, whose death was a tremendous loss of hope and caused violence of historical proportions, and the racial Los Angeles Riots after the Rodney King verdict on April 29, 1992, which turned L.A., ironically ‘the city of angels’, into a warzone of helter-skelter .
