I am currently working on a kit built wooden kayak which has reminded me how few woodworking skills I really have. At least I haven’t cut off or epoxied any digit....yet.

Nice flashback to the old wood shop, (do the kiddies even have wood shop in school these days?), lathe days in High School. I think I still must hold the record for ‘Most lathe cutting tools flipped up and speared into shop class walls’ while working on the lathes. No wall was safe when I was spinnin’ wood!!! I even spent Study Hall in the wood shop!

I remember the boys and I making ninja stars with tinsnips out of sheet metal in shop class. Then we’d fire them into the ceiling when the teacher wasn’t looking.

This is some of the junk I work on.
http://www.fredwoodall.com/shop_pics.htm

I turned a hat out of maple burl once. Had it for about an
hour before a customer talked me out of it but never turned
a bowel. The lathe work is ok but I like inlay and carving
more. Guilding just plain sucks. Just straight gold liefing
is ok but its rare. Most of the time you have rub through to
the rogue to match the aging on the rest of the piece.

Good vid. I might give it a try but I think I’ll turn a
segmented bowling ball first.

Entirely trippy experience.

[I may have nightmares about wood shops running all by themselves, now]

:)

My dad made very nice Adirondack chairs out of crate lumber he salvaged from alleys in Chicago. I sometimes helped, the extent of my “woodworking.”

More trippy musical machines running by themselves.

But they don't have a bowl when they're done.

Or before ..... or during.

(This is the best part of the trip .... the best part ....... I really like .......)

Very interesting. I would advise everyone not to try this at home.

Wow.

A blast from the past.

That was a demo on the driver CD for an ATI Radeon graphics card I got years ago.
