Golden Dawn will look tame once there is a Muslim insurgency brewing in every European capitol. That is when the “Doh” moment will come to Europe.
I was thing of the 1930 movie “Golden Dawn”! It was kind of different.
This return of fascists in Europe is quite predictable, because fascism is an opportunistic infection that only gains a foothold in nations that have already been weakened by socialism. The socialists indoctrinate people to look to the state for charismatic leaders with utopian solutions. When the socialists fail, the people just look for other leaders with different utopian solutions, and that’s what fascists specialize in.
In the early 20th century, Americans weren’t that indoctrinated, so we managed to avoid that trap, but in the early 21st century, I don’t know if we’ll be that lucky.
Greece has only 10.8 million people. 7% are foreigners. 1/3rd of adults are unemployed.
This is very much a youth unemployment problem. The unemployment rate for the young in Greece is above 50%. The longer is stays high, and it will for years, the more the young will reject the previous generation’s politics, and want something new. Golden Dawn isn’t a good solution, but they will be in the right place at the right time.

You’re like a plagiarist who doesn’t quite have the skills needed to plagiarize.
It’s difficult to find a legitimate platform for Golden Dawn that isn’t just ascribed to them by others. However, a few things do stand out, that are not on the surface exclusively fascist ideas.
1) Expulsion of foreigners, illegal and legal. Taking Greece out of the EU free borders agreement, closing the Greek borders to illegal immigrants, and requiring all foreign tourists to have visas to visit Greece.
2) Kicking out all foreign based NGOs that have offices in Greece. Limiting the Greek medical system to just Greeks. The restoration of law and order (many police unofficially support GD). Government support of the Greek Orthodox church against secular and Muslim attacks.
3) Likely leaving the Euro and returning to the Drachma, with a possible renunciation of foreign debts. They are “anti-austerity”, using the populist approach that Greek wealth should support Greeks, not EU bankers.
I finally found a statement by a Golden Dawn spokesman:
“Greece belongs to the Greeks. One does not become a Greek, but is born one. If a black man comes from Africa and stays in Greece for 15 years, he is still not a Greek. We are anti-capitalists, anti-communists and believe in a national state. We also have extremely normal and strict opinions on matters regarding illegal immigration, drugs and homosexuality.”
Paraphrasing the Eagles: “The Greeks don’t want no freaks.”
Golden Dawn are the only alternative to Greece being subjected to a never-ending flood of immigrants who will turn the country into a non-Greek country presided over by tyrannical Muslims.
Sometimes in this life hard choices have to be made, and supporting Golden Dawn is the best choice Greeks have by far.
The Greeks have to give their continued existence as Greeks and their continued status as mon-Dhimmis a higher priority than worrying what foreigners might think of Golden Dawn.
Americans may think Golden Dawn are a bunch a Nazis, but that doesn’t make it so.
They’re actually Metaxists in the humane tradition of the great Greek leader Ioannis Metaxas, a man who bravely fought to keep Greece free from the control of both the Axis Powers and the Allies.
That’s real Nationalism, and what we today know as Golden Dawn grew out of the 4th of August Party which was inspired by the high ideals of Metaxes.
