Silly article. Of course it was a coup. Article keeps beating around the bush, but if the Wehrmacht had launched a coup against Hitler (a democratically elected leader) in 1939, would that have been a bad thing?
Not all coups are bad, and not all democratically chosen leaders are good.
Which is not to say that the Egyptian events are a good thing, necessarily.
