The DOJ has no authority to order the gun “held.” If they want it they need to go to Federal District Court to get a warrant, based upon sworn evidence of probable cause, to seize it. I believe the Florida authorities are under no obligation to honor a Justice Department request. If Zimmerman demands the return of his gun, and the Florida authorities refuse to comply, they have violated his 14th Amendment rights.

And it's multiple felonies: 18 USC 241 and 18 USC 242.
