Okay, I think I've found a video that explains how to work around the difficulty some of us are having while trying to field strip the weapon. Juggalo10mm's explanation of the problem starts about one minute into the video and involves the use of a paperclip.

Apparently the tolerances are so tight, some owners will find they simply cannot remove the guide rod assembly in the normal way. That's certainly the case with mine. The gun might be taking a trip to a smith real soon since I'll be doggone if I'm going to carry around a pocketful of paperclips with me everywhere!

Another reason why I love my Beretta 92FS - I can field strip it and reassemble it blindfolded in a minute.

Simplicity, yet a quality firearm.

I saw that video too when I first bought mine, but I never needed the paper clip.
