In the Morrisania section of the Bronx street gangs are recruiting "boys as young as 9 or 10" to join their ranks as reported by WNYW.
Similarly, a street gang in Suffolk County, NY is recruiting boys as young as nine years old as reported by Kevin Deutsch for Newsday: "police investigators believe that the gang's older members have sought out young neighborhood kids who 'show potential' for membership."
Over the weekend a gun-toting 14-year-old gang banger in the Bronx was killed with a single shot by the NYPD after refusing to drop his weapon as reported by the Daily News: "Shaaliver Douse — who had already been arrested for attempted murder and weapons possession — ran with the gang 9 Crew."
Yeah, they've been doing this since at least the 1800s so this isn't really anything new.

Sadly you’re quite right. It’s remarkable how little society progresses over the years, and it seems each generation confronts the same age-old battle between good and evil.
They do this so they can kill and not be tried as an adult. They then get out of Juvie at 18.
The Viet Cong loaded kids up with explosives and sent them into groups of our troops where they were blown up....not EXACTLY the same, but it helped trigger Mi Lai. The ragheads have been doing it right along. And now the U.S. street gangs have picked up on it. That kid who refused to drop his weapon was INSTRUCTED to do that. Think of the hay the Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons can make off of that!
Isn’t it ironic that this incident came within HOURS of the ditzy black legislator in Illinois voiced the opinion that all the young blacks being shot in Chicago were shot, not by other black youts, but by city cops?
And where are the parents? Oh that’s right, no need for responsibility, “It takes a village”. The village will raise them.
What's new is that I doubt a 14yo arrested in the 1800s for attempted murder would be out roaming the streets afterwards.

And police are less likely to shoot one.
Don’t count on it. Cops are getting smarter about where violence originates and it’s not from little White boys.
