BTW, I saw a little bit of that Andrew Zimmern show in St. Louis. He said he was a Jew, but then he goes and eats pork. What's up with that? He must not be very observant. (I am a goy who grew up in the most Jewish neighborhood in Chicago.)

It's kind of hard to have a Bizarre Food show and eat exotic food and stay kosher. It's not just pork. If he tried to stay kosher, then no shrimp, lobster, clams, and most of the other food he eats. When you eat Morroccan "Mystery Meat" which is basically smelly road kill covered with flies, eating pork is the least of his problems. Also I saw him eat a Ugandan Sugar Cane Rat. Believe me, compared to that, pork is very kosher.

BTW, the one thing he won't consume is beer. Go figure.

BTW, I learned from that show why I almost died when I was a kid in Puerto Rico. I once ate acapurios which is land crabs fried in a dough concoction mixed with other stuff. Well, hours later I was writhing in horrible pain in my stomach and had to be hospitalized.

Watching a recent Bizarre Foods show I found out why. It was St. Croix in the Caribbean and they found land crabs living in sewers. Then they took the land crabs and kept them on a diet of only corn meal and clear water for a couple of weeks. After that it is supposedly okay to eat them. I suspect in Puerto Rico they declared the land crabs ready to eat after just a few days on the corn meal and water diet. And come to think of it, I really don't care to eat anything that has dined on sewage no matter how distant in the past.
