Dogs owned by Oakland Raiders’ cornerback Taiwan Jones attacked and killed a Chihuahua owned by one of his neighbors in Brentwood, California.
Police are still investigating, but by the sounds of the report from the San Jose Mercury News, Jones fully accepts responsibility for the attack – and feels awful about it.
“It was a tragic accident and he feels terrible about it,” Doug Hendrickson, Taiwan Jones’ agent, said. “It’s never happened before. He’s sick over this, no question.”
The attack happened on Monday night while the neighbor, Olivia Paredes was out walking her Chihuahua when Jones’ two pit bull mixes charged and attacked.
“I walked my dog along that street every night,” Paredes said. “We’ve had (Chula) since she was 6 weeks old. She was part of the family. I usually have granddaughter with me and I just worry … this could happen again.”
The fate of Jones’ dogs is still up in the air as the investigation continues. It should be reiterated that Jones’ agent describes his client as an “animal lover” and that Jones’ has been “devastated” by the incident – and that the dogs have never been an issue before.

Accident. Yeah, the pit bulls tripped and fell on little Chula with their mouths open.
Dog of peace. Pit Bulls are the Islamic breed of dogs.

He’s sick that his dogs didn’t kill anything bigger.
the one thing i learned from this was Taiwan Jones, who played running back in college for Eastern Washington, has moved to the other side of the ball...didn’t know...
If my mother had named me “Taiwan” and I hadn’t been born there or didn’t have a Chinese father I’d have the Pit-Bull chase her.
But pit bulls are such benign, harmless little creatures.. there must be some mistake.

Same old weak, tired argument. That damned breed is dangerous, no matter how you spin it.
I guess it’s true that it’s a dog-eat-dog world.
Maybe the pit bull prefered Taco Bueno over Taco Bell and expressed his opinion by killing the Taco Bell chihuahua.
If not put down they need to be under a dangerous animal permit, muzzled and/or leashed all times when outside. At least it wasn’t a cat.
To get to our chihuahua the attackers would have to go through her two pit bulls, her wolf dog and the neighbors Anatolian/St. Bernard mix. They are a tough bunch of males, and they love her.
chihuahuas are always so calm. I’ve never seen or heard one bark or snap at people or other dogs. I wonder how this could have happened.
