Yes they are. As an example, the quaint little village of Pine Bush, NY has two claims to fame, it's been the scene of alleged UFO sightings (it's nicknamed the Roswell of the east) and it's also one of the few areas left in the US where there's still some alleged klan activity. But racism up north was at least as prevalent, though in many cases more subtle. I remember my parents telling me long ago nobody burned crosses in daBronx. Only real estate offices in Riverdale, Pelham Parkway, Williamsbridge, Eastchester (well, before the Edenwald projects went up and the 'hood went down)and other good neighborhoods that dared to show co-ops or townhouses to those "g-ddamed n****rs" and "filthy sp*cs". That's what progressives call them when they think no one's paying attention.
