LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers bet on a pair of aces, but then went out and nearly wasted one of their bullets.
The man they call "Papi" made sure this postseason wasn't remembered for a debatable decision and some ill-timed mistakes. Juan Uribe couldn't get an eighth-inning sacrifice bunt down, but he more than made up for that by launching a two-run home run to send the Dodgers into the National League Championship Series with a stunning 4-3 win over the Atlanta Braves Monday night.

Never anything “stunning” about an Atlanta playoff loss. They happen every year, and often the exact same way. Remember Jim Leyritz? Kirby Puckett? Ed Sprague?
It is damn depressing. Thank G_d for college football. Pro sports here either outright sucks(Hawks) or is just a big tease(Braves, Falcons).
It can be even worse. I root for the Falcons, Braves and Tennessee Vols. I'm counting the days to basketball season. The Vols look to have their best team since Bruce Pearl left so maybe they can help me forget the Falcons miserable season so far.
Fredi is by the book. Problem is, it seems that you should consider throwing the book away in the special case of an elimination game.
I can’t believe Juan is still playing and producing! He was old when my team, Chicago White Sox, won the Series in 2005.
This year the World Series doesn't even start until October 23rd. Given that Pittsburgh, Detroit and Boston are still in the running maybe I'll get to cross another one off my bucket list ... a World Series game snowed out.
Thank goodness for college football, unless your a Georgia Tech man such as myself. The fall spors season has gone from unbelievably exciting t terribly depressing.
I’m happy for him, I liked his personality when he was with us. All I was saying is how surprising it is that he is still out there, he is not young! lol
Yeah, the one year the Braves went all the way was in '95 against my hometown Indians. Of course, it helped that the Atlanta pitchers got a strike zone from the umpires that was about three feet wide. Can you tell I'm still PO'd about it?
“I cant believe Juan is still playing and producing! He was old when my team, Chicago White Sox, won the Series in 2005”
same thought here. When I saw the name, I thought “can’t be the same guy on the Sox when they won the World Series”.
That seems like 20 years ago.
lol, is that because 5 years of tyranny is like dog years, times it by 7 and we have 35 years of this living he**
If it is any consolation I am an Auburn man and you guys beat us the last two times we played. You always have baseball!
