Many people will say "yes" to a street questioner just to be pleasant; it's because they think that's the answer that the questioner wants to hear.

For example, suppose you ask people on the street this question: "Do you think battleship captains deserve extra pay?" You'll get plenty of "yeses", even though there are no more battleship captains.

Street surveys like this one prove nothing. They exist only to belittle those being asked the question.
