It doesn’t cost anywhere near $189 a month for a single person to eat well. With families, it’s even more insane. Keep in mind if they have kids in school, those kids get free breakfast, lunch, and healthy snack. On a full week of school, that’s 10 of their 21 meals for free in addition to the food stamps.

If I had $189 a month for food I’d be in the lap of luxury. My weekly grocery bill is usually about $30, I shop the specials and usually have chicken, pork, ribs, spaghetti and the occasional steak or shrimp.
