Silence from our side indicates extreme exertion to turn this around.. like a duck gliding, you don’t see the furious paddling underwater that moves it.

Exactly!

Others may have made this point, but as someone who has lived in Israel and has relatives and friends there, I can say this: in Israel, there is no question about fighting, because it is literally fighting for your life, for survival. The knowledge that you are surrounded by hundreds of millions of muslims who want to slaughter every last one of your people makes the question of fighting real, every day and unavoidable. Paradoxically, the muslims make the decision easy: fight or die.

Our choice here in the U.S. is much more difficult. It is far too easy to look around and say, “well, its not that bad” or “after all, is anyone really coming to put me in an oven” or “live and let live”. As much as we all cherish freedom and the other great values of this nation, we don’t feel the immediacy of a life or death choice confronting us. If a lot of American patriots started to feel that the choice was as serious as life itself, there would be much more forceful opposition to what is going on. Personally, I don’t advocate violence, but I would like to see huge, furious demonstrations shutting washington down. I would like to see a massive tax strike on every aspect of the tax collection system: no income taxes paid, no sales taxes, no property taxes. Starve the system of revenue. In the case of sales tax, I realize that people have to buy things, but if they could stock up a bit on very inexpensive foodstuffs and simply stop shopping for a week, 10 days, whatever.

Do you really think? I hope and pray you are correct but I have my doubts.

The marxists had to dupe us for 50 years for us to finally wake up to it. Those who were still asleep got jolted awake by the insurance cancellations. It’s personal now. Personal as in those sleeping American parents are realizing they can’t afford anything since their premiums have skyrocketed.

I can only imagine how hard it is to watch your beloved state become what it is becoming. I have a feeliing it may be personal for this Marine also which is why he mentions it? I only hope Ohio will come back to the right side of the issues.

I have heard others say there is no hope but I just cant hardly believe that. They voted red not so long ago! They vote for a Republican governor. But you and others may be right, a few more Presidential cycles will tell us a lot.

“Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not so costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.” Winston Churchill, 1874–1965

I appreciate everyone's comments on this thread. Tucker39, You said, "In remarking upon the horrors of slavery midway through the Civil War Pres. Lincoln said (paraphrased) that he believed that God would not allow the war to end until every drop of slave blood drawn by the taskmaster’s lash had been paid for by the blood of the combatants. If that was true, then we and our progeny face an awful payback for the 55 million innocent babies we’ve allowed to be slaughtered."

-----------------

“In keeping silent about evil, in burying it so deep within us that no sign of it appears on the surface, we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousand fold in the future. When we neither punish nor reproach evildoers, we are not simply protecting their trivial old age, we are thereby ripping the foundations of justice from beneath new generations.”Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

------------------

I wonder, sometimes, if this is God's wrath upon us for not being more, well, violent, in defense of the innocents. Yes, we voted pro-life, some of us worked at pro-life clinics, we donated to anti-abortion organizations, but should we have done much more? If they were children or adults being led to slaughter, would we have stood by and said, "Well, we voted for the anti-holocaust candidate and he didn't win, oh well..maybe next election..."

The same might be said for fighting against the sodomy, perversion, and immorality that is overtaking our land. There are young people being pulled into this life of sin and slavery to degradation. 100 years ago these children and young people would have been protected by the laws of the land and the "white male patriarchs" that kept our society safe and protected (yes, with some exceptions in some areas, but overall they did, by good strong family leadership, righteous preaching, good laws, by faithful execution of the laws by courts and judges, and by public opinion that was never afraid to stand up for what is right.)

We want to fight these evil changes that were instigated by the Gramscian Marxists gently, civilly, to win over by love and faith, through convincing of ideas, through our Christian witness. And I think that is the right way with individual private citizens. But when the leadership of a country and half the population has become downright evil? How to know when it is time to draw arms against this evil? I don't know the answer to this myself but I keep thinking about it.The more we allow ourselves to be enslaved to socialism, the harder it will be to also remain godly and pure, there will be constant pressure to reject the faith of our fathers and we will be given horrible choices (i.e. "you do this terrible thing we are telling you to, or we will take your children away from you and do.... to them."

God gave us an amazing gift in the birth of this nation. We had a nation of people of Christian character and self control who did not need a tyrant to "run" the country. They were not afflicted with the current sin of envy and covetousness and rebellion against God. They honored the Bible and mostly tried to live by it, not perfectly of course, but at least they tried, and God honored them in return.

We must not let His gift of liberty be thrown on the trash heap of history. How do we know when it's "time"? At least, as JewishRighter said, we could be staging massive, massive demonstrations.... But we do need some real leaders and we should all be praying for GOOD men to take up the banner and move forward. If God is calling some men to take the lead, either in civil courts, legal methods, demonstrations or something more, let's all be praying that God gives them great wisdom and discernment in timing, not to be too hasty in moving from one stage to another, but also to not wait too late.

I’ve read comments (not specifically on FR that I can remember) of active mil who have said they will not go along with unconstitutional orders. I think it very possible that there will be division in the military if “the sugar turns to s***”. All good dictators have to have the mil. backing them. Obastard cannot count on the mil, thus the purges. He cannot possible remove every single member of the mil who hates him and his agenda.

And all the purged ones are still alive, and no doubt thinking deeply about matters.

Dear central_va,

When I used that phrase I knew I would not get it precisely word-for-word; but I used the word “paraphrase” to indicate that fact, confident that I could convey Lincoln’s sentiment in a paraphrase. I stated that Lincoln uttered the words around the middle of the war.

He actually said them as part of his Second Inaugural Address; not the middle of the war precisely to the day, but I thought it was “close enough for amateurs.”

I will paste below, a large quote from that address, in which Lincoln states that he believes the war was a judgment from God, and that it was a punishment upon both the North and the South; because in their own way, they were both culpable. The quote contains the phrase in question, minus a word or two of mine, but surely as close and accurate to what I expressed yesterday for reasonable individuals to agree as to Lincoln’s meaning, whose words I paste here:

The Almighty has His own purposes. “Woe unto the world because of offenses; for it must needs be that offenses come, but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh.” If we shall suppose that American slavery is one of those offenses which, in the providence of God, must needs come, but which, having continued through His appointed time, He now wills to remove, and that He gives to both North and South this terrible war as the woe due to those by whom the offense came, shall we discern therein any departure from those divine attributes which the believers in a living God always ascribe to Him?

Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said “the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a truly blessed Christmas. Tommy Tucker

Why don’t you do like Robert E. Lee and Nathan Bedford Forrest, and repent. Mr. Lincoln’s words have stood the test of time.....for those who read them with an open heart and mind.

BTW.....Don’t try to tell me that Forrest started the KKK. An organization Forrest started was hijacked and corrupted INTO the KKK after Forrest left the organization. Forrest got saved, adopted a black child, and even did some preaching of the Gospel in later years.

Again.....happy Thanksgiving and a blessed Christmas to you and yours.
