Taking charge of the overall running debate is probably a tougher job than many imagine. First, the discussion must be framed in as few specifics as possible, then the opposition has to be kept from trying to dodge away or shift the topic while they are being pinned to the wall like an insect specimen.
The Democrat party OWNS Obamacare, and all the artful bobbing and weaving will not take that stark and highly specific fact off the table. Obamacare does not work, it cannot be made to work, and it is impacting everybody in a negative fashion in ways never anticipated by its most fervent advocates.
Those of us who were perhaps less fervent have recognized its major flaws, both in concept and in application, but the air has been filled with so much din and obfuscation that until the pain has really begun to register with even the most low-information voters, there was just not much that would move the needle.
The avalanche is coming, and it is not going to be reversible in its effects. But hey, sometimes that is what is needed to help level the playing field.
I say, surf the avalanche, and drop demolition charges to steer it into a more useful final conformation.
