The Lord is not above using a "clown," as you put it, or the KGB leader of a Socialist country to tell the truth about what an almost godless people have chosen as their "leader."

Whether Putin knows enough about God and His laws and His Truth, I do not know but I do know that in the past, God's people have been punished and called to task by ruthless tyrants.

If people won't listen to reason or the many warnings from God, He will use any and all means to bring them to their knees or their face in the dirt to admit whom the Real Leader is and how much we need to fear Him and "turn from their (our) wicked ways."

>>>He has some conservative values. Remember, his organization has run the Soviet Union, including its present remnant from a certain socially conservative position. Children for example, were not taught sex, homosexuality was a criminal offense, people in management positions were expected to be good family men, girls were taught modesty, art was supposed to be realistic and decent, etc.<<<

In fact you have to learn further. Gay pride has started in 1920s Russia, they had their Sandra Flukes at the time, sex indeed was taught at school, lesbians and single mothers were installed in both civilian and military positions ahead of family men, girls were taught to be “collective wifes”, and most of the weird liberal arts are rooting from 1920s Russia, too. About that time they have started with “equal opportunity officers” aka commissars in the military and attacks on religion (thus islam was targeted on per with the rest).

I agree, at this time Obama is the greatest threat our nation faces.

His books are a must read. I have New Lies for Old in my personal collection, with an online version of Perestroika Deception on my other laptop.

I agree. I trust Putin more than I trust Obama. I bet the Russian military is allowed to say Merry Christmas.

a nationalist

I was writing in a hurry. Putin is perceived as nationalist, which ingredient we lack in our society, in the West. However, the last thing Putin truly can be described as is nationalist. He is, if I may coin a word, sovietist: a nationalist for an artificial nation. All his political instincts are internationalist: he likes repeating that Russian Federation is a multinational entity and his project is a neo-USSR to which his Customs Union is a step. Russia was under Red occupation for 70 years and remains an occupied country today. The difference is that the occupier adapted to the defeat of the Cold War.

you must confess the POSSIBILITY that Putin has become a Christian

We are evaluating him as a politician and a head of state, not as a religious man. His organization was one eradicating Christian faith in Russia for 70 years and it nearly succeeded. I would expect of a Christian ruler of Russia to put repudiation of the Soviet political structures as christiphobic and working the work of Satan. Has he done so? He is busy putting monuments to his secret police back up; his philosophy is continuity with the USSR. These are not acts of a man with a grain of Christianity in his soul.

Your explanation makes sense, but I'll take even this.

That is true, too. The Soviet puritanism dates from the late 30's or perhaps from the onset of the Cold War in 1949.

My point is that a product of the Soviet 70's like Putin would be raised on conservatism, KGB-style, of his time, not on the Sexual Revolution of 1917-37. Surely his admirers over here do not love him for being a second Betty Friedan. although he would look good in one of her hats.

That Obamagabe has been allowed to completely destroy the morals in this country, completely destroy the economy, completely destroy our foreign policy, and make the US the brunt of jokes around the world, and the American people, lead by a spineless Congress have aided and abedded him in these these goals, should be put in Ripley’s Believe it Not. Now that he has destroyed the military and fired all general officers that didn’t bow down to him, a coup is not possible. In elections the people get exactly what they deserve and this anti-American stooge is destroying little by little the country that our Founding Fathers fought and died for and every other American that has fought and died in all the wars since. And he’s allowed to do it. No one says a word. Everyone bows down to Ceasar. Never thought I would live to see the day that we are no better than a third world country being led by a tin-horn dictator.

He’s certainly far closer to us than ANY of the “officials” who currently decide our futures. As a Cold War Kid, that’s something you’d never thought you’d say.

"Putin is a Russian whose interests are Russian and his own."

OK...So what is wrong with that? My interests are American and my own.

Absolutely nothing, Putin should be a Russian first, and put other Russian's best interests first in his policies. Furthermore, Putin owes nothing to Americans, but has demonstrated that he occasionally warns us about terrorists planning operations in the US.

Indeed, from a position of a Russian self-identity, they aren’t part of the West (thus not the part of the East too).
Their language had histoprical definition for both and it sounds alienating.
Definition for Western people was borrowed from the Poles - “niemtsy” - roughly translated from Polish as “people uncapable to speak in human language”.
Non-Christian people of the East and South were called “paganiy” = filthy in modern Russian. BTW, it is where an English “pagan” came from.
None of these words are used in that meaning today but the mood is still the same.

I am becoming convinced that there is a long history of misunderstanding between the United States and Russia that is not recognized by ordinary Americans and ordinary Russians as such.

Since the 1970's I have had a growing distrust of the Western Main Stream Media to the point where I now read everything MSM looking for the leftist propaganda and indoctrination points.

I consistently see hatred and bias against Western Conservatives, and Russian popularly elected governmental officers with traditional viewpoints and policies, form the same group of "journalists" and editors.

I know these "journalists" are lying and indoctrinating about the TEA party and Conservatives like me, so why wouldn't they lie about Russian politicians they don't like and about the essence of Russia itself to dis-empower those same politicians.

President Putin recently presented an open letter to Americans and, after closely reading it, I am sure that there was misunderstanding on both sides, however, by presenting that letter, Putin recognized (and exposed) the MSM anti Putin, anti Russian bias. Putin wanted to get HIS words to the American public, not the MSM's "translation". Sadly, Putin believes the American government has more support from the American people, and speaks for them, more than it actually does.
