Former Attorney General and current U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal is calling on United Parcel Service to issue refunds to customers whose gifts did not arrive in time for Christmas.

“I am disappointed to learn that so many consumers in Connecticut and across the country made purchases this holiday season expecting their gifts to arrive in time for Christmas, but instead were left empty-handed,” the Democratic senator from Connecticut said in a press release.

UPS and Fed Ex were given the opportunity to open greatly increasing their business form the poor service of the Post Office. My post office has been closed for 4 months and they expect the box rent for my box. City people get their service free.

Take public attention away from the failures of the federal government and Obamacare and go after companies by creating fake problems.

"'I call on UPS to do the right thing and provide refunds to people whose Christmases were a little less cheery as a result of their late deliveries,' the senator said."

Kinda' like those Stage IV Cancer patients whose aggressive cancer treatments won't be "delivered" on and after January because of tyrannical Democrat rules and regulations in ACA?

Now, Senator, we, the families and friends of those patients who have had both their Thanksgiving Holidays and Christmas celebrations marred by unnecessary anxiety, frustration and outright anger at the coercive and oppressive Democrat Party who, like lemmings following an imaginary leader into the sea, have, in the name of a "progressive" political agenda have brought about untold unnecessary suffering to millions of their fellow citizens, whose brave battles may have been fought in vain if they now lose their doctors, hospitals, and treatments.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C. S. Lewis

Mrs. Chandler took care of the Christmas shopping long before Christmas so it wasn't a problem for us. We go all cash, too, so there is no January financial hangover.

if you did the tracking you could see they were sitting in some terminals.

I did have a package of water filters for the home that got stuck at UPS Dallas for a couple days. They were delivered Christmas eve, so we were blessed with the Christmas gift of good tasting water.

Ooops!

Correction of grammatical error in third para:

"Now, Senator, we, the families and friends of those patients who have had both their Thanksgiving Holidays and Christmas celebrations marred by unnecessary anxiety, frustration and outright anger at the coercive and oppressive Democrat Party who, like lemmings following an imaginary leader into the sea, in the name of a "progressive" political agenda have brought about untold unnecessary suffering to millions of their fellow citizens, whose brave battles may have been fought in vain if they now lose their doctors, hospitals, and treatments."

Unreal- don’t order your Christmas present on week-end before Christmas and expect it to be there on 12/25. Seriously, this nation is bending over backwards to accomodat procrastinators.

Does UPS not already have a policy about missed delivery dates? I know one of my customers got a full refund when their overnight delivery that was suppose to show up on the 24th by 10:30 showed up this morning.

I was going to write a short essay on the dangers of procrastination, but I think I'll wait until tomorrow.

Ths proves B is useless. Talking about refunds is real stupid. The guy is the village idiot. UPS, FEDEX AND USPS did a superb job with most of the packages. Hats off for a job well done. And if you didn’t get yours, sorry. Life goes on.

Yep but keep in mind, until they get the bonus, they don't know how much they have to spend :-)

There are those who procrastinate but I've asked a lot of the younger people I know why they waited so long to do their shopping and the answer was always the same - they were waiting for their Chrustmas bonus.

The USPS (unless you use Express Mail) does not say they will positively get it there when they say and even in that case they have a few restrictions. And they have a money back guarantee if they do not.

I have some complaints about USPS but for the price they do a decent job and they don't over promise which seems to have been the problem here.
