It’s hard to take any twenty-something intellectual dude serious. Oh, they took some classes, got a certificate of sorts, talk with seven-dollar words, and have some ability at debate. For them....it’s all merely a debate...nothing beyond that in realistic gains.

I think you are wrong on one account. It is more than a debate. it is the culmination of ALL the worldly experience that they have had, and their attempt to show it to everyone. No on has more experience in life than they do, which is why they KNOW all the right answers and you don't.

Challenge them and you will be attacked for it, because you just don't know what it is like to have the weighty world experience they have gained, through their extensive studies and lengthy discussions over a game on the X-Box, or an exprresso. Never mind that you have raised productive children. Never mind that you may have faced death in combat, or in the service of others. Never mind that you have made decision where making the wrong one would cost people their lives, or ultimately even have national security implications. It all doesn't matter, because "you just don't know what it is like".

I liken a conversion with these people to being responded back with a huff, a stomp of the foot, and a pouty lower lip.

This really irritates me. First, most conservatives I know, and clearly most who post on this site, are more pro-Israel and respectful of Judaism's religious history than a large number of American’s of Jewish decent. Second, attacking Christianity has become a sport for liberals, so the indignation here smacks of hypocrisy. Third, defining all of Judaism by using a Manhattan liberal definition of a secular Jew is not at all being fair to Judaism and Jews as a whole. It is extremely self-serving. Fourth, no group has a lock on ‘being for the underdog’ etc. There are many Jews who have done and are doing incredibly wonderful things to help people, and there are plenty of Christians and people of other faiths, and even those without religion who do good and help others. There are also plenty within each religious category who have not been so good - (e.g. Bernie Madoff, pastors who have fleeced their flock, etc.).

The bottom line is to make this about Judaism is really, really offensive. There are those, Jewish and not Jewish, who believe Karl Marx is an example of a great Jew. To them I would say that the ten commandments are a fundamental part of Judaism - and one of them says ‘Thou shall not kill’, yet the legacy of Marx includes the deaths of 100s of millions of people who suffered because of the non-empathic rigidly ideological arrogance of this man and those who followed him. Liberal cocktail socialism is a form of legitimization and semi-worship of this man's ideology - and to do so is neither progressive or empathic. It is blind stupidity.

Snot-nosed teens are notorious for whining "you just don't understand" when what's really occurring is the adult doesn't agree.

So it's important to recall that telling an opponent they are "ignorant" is to say they don't understand.
