Little Richard.
“SHUT UP!”
How many Conservatives made the list?
Wow. A freeper post that praises Streisand - I thought that would never happen.
I’ve been a Streisand fan for 40 odd years now. A great entertainer, an Israel/IDF lover, a woman who has brought women’s heart disease to an American audience when all they seem to care about is breast cancer and a complete doofus when it comes to American domestic affairs. Who knows why she has been overlooked? She’s got enough money and awards to last a life time. As her ex-husband, Elliot Gould, observed: she lives like an empress. And, believe me, she does. Maybe, one day, she can entertain our tacky, icky, goyishe American troops. Then, I can truly respect her.
Is Martha Argerich Jewish?
Don't know, didn't look.
I wouldn't know their political outlooks anyway, even if I'd heard of any of 'em.
Does it matter?
Isn't the list supposed to be about the music?
Where is this list? The article linked a ladygaga site and I couldn’t find an article from ABC in google news
“best of lists” and “grammy award”/”pulitzer prize” winners are never about “the music”.
So the writer complains that there are no Jews on the list. Are there any Methodists? Why is a musician’s religion such a big deal?
Ellie Greenwich, Cynthia Weil.
Again, the clueless author cites sales figures as a measure of quality. Maybe for the philistines. Carole King as a whining proto-feminist solo act? Shouldn’t have divorced Gerry.
Non-Jewish, don’t get me started, I want to eat a peaceful dinner, and I know no one has ever heard of Ann Peebles or Marti Jones. Because they didn’t sell, they can’t be any good.
I think that’s the key right there. Otherwise, Streisand, Joplin and Ronstadt should be there.
Personally, I would never put Barbra Streisand or Carole King on any list that had the word “Greatest” in the title.
Perhaps the folks who made that list feel the same way.
So.. apparently whoever wrote this thinks they ought to be about being Jewish.
Whatever such awards are about, my point is that a lots of other
groups were also excluded. Why cry about it? How many Presbyterians were included?
Don't know? Because nobody cares and it didn't factor into the selection.
It's a nothing little list and it doesn't make a rat's ass worth of difference
if it doesn't include Jews or Presbyterians or midgets or Ferret Breeders.
+1!
How about Pat Benatar? Rosie of the Originals?
I still want to see the list. Was Ronnie Spector there?
Pat Benatar is amazing. Ya got me on Rosie - I'll go do some poking around.
What about Spanky Gang of Spanky and Our Gang?
Or Valentina Lisitsa?
