agreed but sometimes getting them to see it is hard. I am not so sure this is a new phenomenon but with the unemployment being what it is it is more noticeable
and shame on them sometimes I think we shoot ourselves in the foot because we get a bit rigid.
I can still remember in an interview being asked if how I graded my computer skills. I said I was average and they went ooooh (in a very sad way). SO I immediately said well I am not an object oriented programmer. The most current language I could program was a combination of Forth and advanced BASIC. I told them that as far as tool usage went I considered myself above average but not as proficient as the local assistant admin.
SOmetimes it is just perspective. I don’t think I am as good at computers as those who spend their lives writing code and designing them. But that shouldn’t have been the nature of the question.
Anyway that’s too long a rant
