Oddly, to make that statement about revolt, they have to use the scriptural accounts...and adhere to them fairly strictly.

Quite true. The Church created the idea of Satanism in the middle ages to equate it with paganism, and brand wiccans as worshipping Satan. It’s the evil twin of Christianity.
