Let me begin this post with a personal anecdote. True story: I was once arrested for participating in an abortion protest. It was a standard banana-republic arrest and charges were dropped because there was no basis for arresting us. But I got to spend a night in jaila rather light version where all us pro-lifers got to sack out together.
The room was quite familiar to methe paint, the décor, the cinderblock wall underneath. It was the same as every American schoolroom I had ever been inside.
Moving on to what might seem like a different subject:
What a great nation we have become where lawmakers feel compelled to rein in professional child-intimidators.

Okie Nanny State PING!
It is a sad day when Americans have to pass legislature in support of common sense.
Abolish the Department of Education.
Schools could be revolutionized for the better overnight if no teacher with a degree in education would be hired. Schools need people who know specific subject matter and love it, and can communicate that love and excitement to children in the field they love, whether language, history, literature, math, etc.
I was a child during WWII-—All we did was “shoot” or “bomb” each other.
Toy guns and pine cone grenades.
We ended up being called The Silent Generation,so obviously no harm done.

When people disregard the big laws (Ten Commandments), we don’t get freedom, but we get a bunch of little laws.

Why do we even try talking to mentally ill people? (liberal nannay staters)
I quit doing it. My attitude is, this is what I am doing and you can bite me. I no longer explain, and I NEVER justify my actions or beliefs to these communists.
Separating schools and state would help.
Prepare for the inevitable wailing and gnashing of teeth from public school soccer moms, should such an effort actually take shape.
Sad that the Legislature has to outlaw idiocy by school officials.
That works!
FTA: “Educators are degreed professionals, trained and experienced in dealing with children,

Just let me say “Wow!” I once watched an Education major do her semester project cutting pictures out of fashion magazines and pasting them into an exam book. The night before it was due. [*boggle*]
Years later I worked in computing services to academics [*spit*] that included the nearby dept of education. The graduate level students were weapons-grade stupid. It was so bad that one of them sued our dept because she had destroyed her own thesis data. (I had tried to intervene in the destruction but just got s/c/r/e/e/c/h/e/d at for my efforts. )
So “degreed professionals” equals skid-marks on my tight-whiteys as far as I’m concerned. (Nothing engenders contempt for “higher education” quite like working with them.)
At age 6 we were all conducting Daisy BB-gun wars against each other. At age 8, I had a pump action Remington .22. At age 12, I had a 16 Ga. shotgun. At age 15, I had a lever-action Winchester .30-.30.
Any of that these days would result in a SWAT response with APC's, cops dressed for battle and equipped with grenade launchers and select-fire weapons.

Since I’ve always lived in a Massachusetts city I don’t even know what most of those are. :-)
.
What? This is terrible! These children are the worst people in the world. Worse than Hitler.
I lived in Massachusetts for three years whilst putting my first ex-wife through dental school at Tuft's.
While I feel your pain, I was and am most fortunate to have lived the majority of my life on the high plains.
