The question is: who is the master? The Washington Post probably needs Professor Volokh more than Professor Volokh needs the Washington Post.

I don’t see Professor Volokh as being susceptible to their pressure. He’s a law professor with a career and a very successful blog with it’s own audience.

It’s WaPo that is susceptible to change because they are dying on the vine. If this brings in more paying customers, they are going to be looking for more of the same.
