I have a B.A. in Political Science and have volunteered in local political campaigns as well as National campaigns. My responsibilities included grass roots work, press conferences, petitions, and going door to door campaigning for local candidates.

Well, those people you worked for are where I would go first....those are your connections at this point. They may very well be able to direct you where you would go....and even in asking them, or telling them you’re looking for a chnage into politics, they may very well snatch you up!

Sounds like you have a good foundation -- have you considered contacting any of the Conservative leaning polling companies such as Luntz Group or Ed Goes' firm to expand your experience a bit? Some of the political consultants I've met "back in the day" when I was active (1994 - 1997) came from some of the best known polling companies. (Ed Goes and Frank Luntz certainly meet that criteria as do several others.)

Connie Hair from here on FR also comes to mind. She has a very wide base of experience from political consulting, running grass roots campaigns, writing, etc.. I'd worked with her briefly on one campaign and thought she was very sharp. She might also be someone you would want to reach out to. I think she's consulting with the NRA now IIRC. A quick Google search should tell you where she is now.

It is rather tough to make a living in political consulting -- feast or famine was my experience. Best of luck to you!
