If you want to be president, you really have to run and lose but lose in a good way and then the next time is when you are ready to run and win.
When you run the 1st time, you message is not focused, people don’t know you and therefore don’t trust you, you monetary supporters are few and far between.
the second time around, you have been vetted, you stay on message, you have made a lot of allies and now you can add even more to the ones you made the first time.
Now you are ready to win.
So Paul and Cruz staying out means they are out in 2014 congressional primaries. But if they have their eyes on 2020 or 2024, they must run in 2016 and finish well.
