Americans are not typically aware of how their federal and state prison systems work. What we think we know, we learned from watching television. When I took my first walk through at FCI (Federal Correctional Institution) El Reno Oklahoma as a new employee, I was surprised at how non-Hollywood real prison life is. Frankly, all I knew about prison life was what I saw on television or at the movies. Not even close.
As I got closer to retiring from the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP), it began to dawn on me that the security practices we used in the prison system were being implemented outside those walls. Free worlders is prison slang for the non-incarcerated who reside in the free world. In this article I am going to compare a number of practices used in federal prisons to those being used today in the free world.
You might find that our country may be one giant correctional institution.

I’ve been saying this for years.
The Watertown cops beating down doors with no search warrant was beyond the pale.
I wonder if there was any attempt by any victim to file a complaint or legal action after the fact and what happened?
Light pre-dinner reading....
Makes me ill.
They damn near violated the 3rd amendment in Watertown. Federal troops technically occupied private dwellings during that period..
Probably not ... or else they would have their doors beat down again .... just to teach them some “respect their betters”.
Lockdown is ALL prisoners locked down and restricted access for guards and personnel. They give privileges so that they can take them away... TV for example, liberty, visitation....
“Dont fool yourself into believing that the Supreme Court will never again allow a wartime violation of civil rights like it did in allowing internment camps for Japanese-Americans during World War II, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia warned law students at the University of Hawaii on Monday.”
Aren’t TAXachusettians sheep anyway? Otherwise they wouldn’t live there.
You think they’d try this in a castle doctrine state?
Some asshat pointing a rifle at me would probably get himself shot.
I read it again and got sick at my stomach.
The plates thing is the worst.
“I wonder if there was any attempt by any victim to file a complaint or legal action after the fact and what happened?”
I would hope so.
No surprise. Although it is shocking when read all together. And from the perspective of supposedly free men living like prisoners in their own country.
But from the reactions of many on this forum all this is just fine. Some examples:
Complain about the cops in Watertown: Cophater!!
Complain about roadblocks: You’re a drunk and a cophater!!!
Complain about metal detectors: you want children dead!!!
Complain about stop and frisk: cop hater and you want everyone dead!!!!
Etc. Etc.
But to be fair there is a core group here that actually opposes the police state. They are easy to spot.
“They” are the cop haters. Oh, and the “conspiracy theorists”
I did notice one good thing about being a prisoner.
You can’t have pets in prison. Therefore your beloved Black Lab can’t be shot.
I became really active when on my ranch in NM. I heard shots and assumed I had elk poachers.
I am driving around when I am surrounded (on my own property on my own road in my own truck) by 15 cops in black, dragged out of my truck, thrown in the dirt, roughed up, cuffed, truck town inside out while some DEA agent is screaming at me to tell him where the drugs are, telling me I am going away for life because I have an AR-15 in the truck, etc.
I tell them they are trespassing and to get off my land and they laugh telling me they can “go anywhere they fucking want with or without a warrant.”
They proceed to figure out this really is my ranch, then uncuff me and leave with a threat that “they’ll be watching me.”
I suspect they were poaching, to this day.
Anyway, my formal complaints went nowhere, with a finding of “no impropriety.”
I’m no fan of drug seller or drug users and don’t use drugs myself. But druggies have never bothered me.
Drug warriors, however, almost killed me, and certainly busted me up for no reason.
I’ve taken to putting caltrops on my roads at certain spots.
Sorry for your troubles. I have a similar story and I know friends who have same. I’ll tell you this, I’ll never forget. As for “a few bad apples” I think I’ll just assume they’re all bad and let God sort ‘em out at their proper time. Cause one way or another they’re gonna have to pay.
Oh, I do forgive’em. But I don’t forget.
” Federal troops technically occupied private dwellings during that period.”
Storming and occupying a private dwelling without anything resembling a warrant is hardly “technical.”
The fact that people allowed this is bizarre.
In complete violation of the 3rd Amendment..
It wasn’t “bad apples.”
It was an entire squad of quasi-military dumbasses.
