They are foolish or evil, or more likely both, but are human beings.

Dehumanizing opponents does nothing to help us. Describing other people the way we describe animals ("mongrel", "subhuman") is a strategy that accomplishes nothing.

Absolutely not. Human beings don’t ally themselves with al-Qaeda. Human beings don’t fight tooth and nail to defend partial birth abortion (or any abortion for that matter). Human beings don’t silence dissent or order jackbooted thugs to violate the Constitution.
