I read on a lefty blog, I think, that the only reason they lost the vote is because Volkswagen sided with them! There was some deal they would get if they went union.... Thought it likely spin. I certainly hope they don’t try again.

While also agreeing to maintain high standards of productivity, i.e., speedup and sweat shop exploitation, the UAW pledged to prevent any strikes, pickets or slowdownsin other words, to serve as an industrial police force for the company.
