Just perhaps when others up the chain realized Gowdy et all meant business they contacted his office wanting to save their own asses. All they need Lerner for is to introduce the evidence or trail right to V.J. or Bambi.
That is my take on it. They have the evidence to hang her and others they just want to show the public she was just following orders from the top.

US government will put Lois Lerner on TV, ASAP, for a couple hours so they can ‘Put this behind us’ and sweep the underlying (domestic/foreign) terror network under the rug.
