Too many powerful politicians in either party, active and retired, are involved and guilty of this national hoax.

The laws survive, no sweat there. The courts have a widget to keep from upsetting the legislative applecart.

However, no court will touch it because it would expose the idiocy of the Congress; and plenty of careers would be flushed.
