Fifty years and trillions of dollars after the “War on Poverty” was launched, poor Americans aren’t much better off, according to a study published by Republican reformers in Congress.
The War on Poverty has barely made a dent in actual poverty, states the 205-page report unveiled last month by the House Budget Committee, which is chaired by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.).

And, as with all liberal policies like this,
they convince their sheeperals that they want to raise up the “have-nots”
but in reality, the only true agenda is to cut the “haves” off at the knees.
And what an expensive load of manure it’s been huh? “But, but, but........it’s government money. Why would the taxpayers(makers) be upset about that?” Typical progressive counter argument.
Back when I was teaching econ, the poverty level was $9600 for a family of four. I used to tell the mostly-Freshman students that I could eliminate poverty overnight. Their eyes would go as big as pie plates, and they’d ask how. I told them: “Get all of the people who make $9600 or less, line them up, and shoot them.” When the outrage had subsided, I would ask them: “Now, how long do you think it takes before the guy making $9601 starts bitching because he’s the poorest person in the country?” From that point we would discuss attempts at a perfectly even distribution of income (pure Communism) and why those income equality experiments (Owenism, New Harmony, etc.) never work and the effect of economic incentive on production. They would eventually see that you can never eliminate poverty in a free society. Despite this fact, some people, like Obozo, want a perfectly even distribution of income but clearly have not thought it through.
If you keep giving handouts with no strings attached they’ll just keep coming and expecting more. Thus look where we are today. We’re a nation deep in debt with a huge, non-productive underclass.
Obviously the problem is we haven’t spent enough money that we don’t have on people who don’t care.

war’on citizens’ 2a rights. succeeding via tangents. domestic violence charges - can be yelling - lose 2a rights. increasing the number of non-violent related felonies, so many people may not even know about - lose 2a rights. creating laws to turn people into criminals - lose 2a rights. bannming lead’production. now with the copper mines. harassing small gun dealers for access to reords by’govt thug agencies.

Yeah you might draw the conclusion that what makes poor people poor is their behavior and life decisions. That is to say you and I might draw these conclusions. Obviously liberals draw the conclusion that the poor are poor because they haven’t been bestowed with enough of the wealth that others have worked their a$$es off for.

I say BS! Look back at the ‘poor’ in the 50’s 60’s and witness their lifestyles, it is nothing compared to the ‘poor’ of today.
Due to being subsidized a vast number of the ‘poor’ eat, drink, drive and sleep in better accommodations than I who is just a blue collar kinda guy who pulled his own weight to get where I am.
Don’t get me wrong, I have a very compassionate heart with some liberal strings attached but feeding this beast without proper oversight only produces more ‘poor’.
No doubt. You want to see “poor”, just take a trip to Haiti or some other 3rd world place.
I think the evidence shows this group has thought it through and cares nothing for what your freshman class was able to quickly understand. Redistribution is their only focus and the only thing left to work out are the means and methods.
Why can’t we ever raise those people out of the bottom quintile!
We’re the richest country in the world!
We should be able to help out those in the bottom 20%!

They could have spent a lot less than 21 trillion and eliminated a lot of future poverty (and crime) in 1965 by offering a large, sum of money to every poor person with an IQ under 90. As it is about 10% of the present population is doomed to a future of welfare and crime.
We could buy back all the gold we sold off. I think we are down to around 1000 tonnes. In the 1950s, I think we had 20000 tonnes.
