Ronald Reagan's Secretary of State George Schultz had a priority test for prospective ambassadors. He would invite them to his office for a chat. Then at the end he would say "Before you can leave, you have one more test. Go over to that globe and show me that you can identify your country." Without exception, the ambassador-to-be spun the globe and located the country to which he would be posted.

"No, I want you to identify your country," and he would spin the globe back and put his finger on the United States.

The version I heard had George Schultz being a bit more outspoken and profane, but still making it clear what country they were representing.
