HOAX EXPOSED: NYT Edited Version Of Bundy Comments
Pat Dollard.com ^

Posted on 04/24/2014 3:37:15 PM PDT by stirrinthepuddin

Watch Bundy explain how we need to keep things from going backwards for blacks, and how the Federal government has created a neo-slave class via entitlement dependency that is so bad it is arguably worse than plantation slavery was.

It is 100% clear that Cliven Bundy is not saying that blacks should be slaves picking cotton, but that the Federal government has created conditions for them so terrible, that their current situation may actually be worse. (If you are person of low intelligence, the fact that that is his point might be too hard for you to understand.) And he’s not blaming blacks for the issues of abortions, and crime and broken families, he’s blaming the Feds.

His remarks, while may have an element of truth, were unfortunate.

This is the start of the media dehumanization of this man.

I believe it will continue until he has been dehumanized to the point where any action against him, legal, ethical, or neither, will be accepted by the masses.

Remember Ruby Ridge and Waco.

And if we help them dehumanize him, we are no better than the liberals.

I just do not think it is true or politically savvy to say it is a problem. I can see how a middle class working black guy would get pissed at that comment.

Being slightly beyond middle age (62) and a half black man myself .. I don't see the 'offense'?

The United Negro College Fund organization doesn't seem to have a problem with it either?

Growing up ... Negro and was perfectly acceptable!

I hate to say this but when us Negro's watch folks fall all over themselves in trying to be Politically Correct in the words they use .. It doesn't make us respect you anymore than we do or don't do now!
(Especially when we change the words every decade or so) 8)

My black son in law thinks the same thing.

Hey, your name wouldn’t be “Tom” would it? ;)

You think wondering aloud whether "the Negro" was perhaps better off a slave than they are now is correct? Thinking such a thing doesn't make one a racist, but it does make a person kind of stupid.

This is why the average person cannot open their mouth publicly about any protected class. The default if they do express an opinion is to default to the PC line, which represses their true sentiments. They can only express themselves honestly if they have reached a high level of understanding of the issues, so that they cannot be caught out on any statement. We are all busy, so that understanding can only be achieved by a small minority of policy wonks.

In this context, it is easy to throw stones at others, but very hard to communicate with others on these subjects, on the fly, in daily life.

How do you handle this personally? Your tongue must be raw from 'clamping down' if you take your own advice.

I think Bundy gave a reasonable Moynihanesque exposition on the negative impact of government on the 'negro family', as Moynihan expressed it. He reached back too far with his comparison to slavery, embellished by cotton and turnips. More appropriate was a comparison to the world before the Great Society. I ascribe that to his lack understanding, but overall pretty good for an average guy. His views on immigration show his limited understanding of politics and how he lets his personal experience, with Mexicans, determine his views.

Overall, it's clear that Bundy is clearly making an effort to be compassionate and that he is certainly not a racist.

So Bundy is Mau-Maued by the MSM anyway, using shop-worn race-baiting tactics playing on racial dysfunction stretching back a century and a half. You would think that we would have resolved this in our racial relations by now. We have not because Democrats like Johnson and Obama devoted themselves to setting back race relations, not because average sincere citizens express their sincere opinions. Of course, Democrats would say that the reason is that all white people are racist, but then we know that is wrong.

So I think that Bundy did us all a favor by saying what he did, even though he may have given Rory Reid's dad the pretext to grab his grazing lands.

Yep...now he’ll be audited by the IRS, investigated by the ATF, EPA, LMNOP you name it. They’ll come after him and make his life miserable over the next few years.

A number of freepers were in on those flame wars. I am surprised you missed them all.

I didn't miss them. I think you are putting too much gravitas into someone who may cook you A$$ in the long run.

This is the wrong fight, at the wrong place, for the wrong reason.

For cowards, it's always the wrong fight, place, reason, time of day, temperature outside, pollen...

History is filled with people who turned on their fellows. The jews with the Kapos, the Vischy collaborators with the french... And now the Psuedocons that rush to every lib talking point they can find hoping the alligator eats them last.

When the SHTF, who would trust people at their back that cannot even stand up and be counted when libs fling words around?

The problem here is government corruption and tyranny.

The BIGGER problem is we let them get away with it.

Whats interesting is how many Freepers ran around toeing the liberal line on this today. They are as much a fraud as Beck, Hannity and Reid.

They've been looking for an excuse to cut and run from the fight from the beginning. Or they never intended to be in it in the first place.

All I’m trying to tell you is trust yourself. There are Freepers who have gone against you. Bundy has gone against you. Politicians have gone against you. If you can find neighbors and family who you trust go for it!

Basically undocumented liberals. Situational ethics seems to be their forte. Refuse to fight until their own ox gets gored. Then: “How dare you question my conservatism/patriotism!!!”

Quite easily and with good reason actually.

Thanks for posting the video/transcript.

Sounds like Cliven meant well, but, nonetheless, his words will be taken offensively. It’s clear he is trying to express that being on govt subsidies makes people less free, but to say they might have been better off as slaves is offensive. I’m sure he didn’t mean it that way, but it doesn’t change the fact.

But, hey, he’s an elderly gentleman who has no media experience. Bless his heart, he stuck his foot in his big mouth on this one.
