It doesn’t sound like we’re really disagreeing since the point of reference cited is Woodrow Wilson. I’ll mention Grover Cleveland again, who was a Democrat. He was a true limited government conservative, probably more so than any Republican president that came after him except for Calvin Coolidge. Maybe Cleveland was an outlier.
